We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Thornton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of being a life coach from my experience being coached. In 2011, I was coached by Iyanla Vazant and her team. She was led to offer a free 9 week coaching to the first 100 black men that emailed her. That experience helped me on my journey of self elevation but it also showed me how much our men needs a space to go and be vulnerable without being judged, so they can heal and create the healthiest version of themselves mind, body and spirit.

What should our readers know about your business?
Kevin Thornton Consulting LLC is a coaching and wellness company. What sets me apart from other coaches is that I am known for my positive outlook towards the life I have been given and my heart for helping others find that same positivity for life. My coaching is in demand for my unique ability to combine the psychological with the spiritual. I started my journey with coaching after being coached by Iylanla Vanzant of the OWN hit series Iylanla Fix My Life. I found a way to make life my classroom and began educating the personal rights and liberties of those around me. Educating people’s right to vitality and abundance while negating any negative thinking that suggests a life can be lived without those possibilities became Kevin’s life purpose.

When clients first meet me, there’s a shift in their thinking and Kevin’s impact sets in immediately. Once Clients are able to shift their view of pain into purpose and prosperity, they are then able to shift their whole perspective on life.

I got to where I am today by being dedicated and determined to create the business and platform that I was assigned to do. It hasn’t been easy, I stayed connected to God during the journey and understood my Why was more important than any other thing.

I am most proud about being name 1 of the upcoming life coaches for 2021 by Disruptive Magazine.

lessons I’ve learned along the way were not to create limits on the abundance that god has designed for you to have. not to tell everyone what your vision is because some won’t understand and that’s okay because it’s not their vision. Finally, don’t allow anyone to place limits on what’s possible for me to accomplish.

I want the world to know that my divine assignment here on Earth is to inspire, educate and empower others to create the healthiest version of themselves mind, body, and spirit. To teach them to stop asking for permission to stand in their greatness and just be great!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When they arrive on Friday night, I would take them to Sage Woodfire Tavern Perimeter, they have great food, drinks and they have a band and dj to enjoy the evening. Saturday morning, I would take the to Toast on Lenox for brunch, it’s a great way to begin the day with great food, great people and great drinks. Later that evening, we would go to Chicago Pizza and Sports Grille to watch the games and have drinks. Sunday, we would start the day with brunch at Breakfast at Barneys, with great food and mimosas.
