We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Shen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The definition of a successful brand or business in photography/videography industry is very vague. You can call it successful by having a lot of customers, or winning several awards, which I have neither of those. Be able to deliver stunning photos and videos or not isn’t what I worried about because that’s what we do. However, what matters the most to me and my brand is the relationship between me and my clients and other venders. I want the people who I work with to have a great experience right from the beginning when we set up our first call, and I want that great experience to be carried over into the session and all the follow ups; then I conclude the five-star satisfaction package with my final photos and films. Many of my past clients came back to me for more projects because of the good experiences they had initially. Better yet, those business-client relationships turned into friendships or partnerships later on.

What should our readers know about your business?
For a long time, we’ve been motivated by beautiful portraits and wedding films that we found on social media and online. Soon after, we knew exactly which direction we wanted to take our business. As a professional wedding cinemagraphy and photography company, our main goal is to use our talent to showcase the raw emotion behind each event in an artistic and appealing way. With our experience and the positive feedback we’ve received from past work, we’re confident that we’ll do an excellent job covering your wedding. We love working with people and find the human aspect inspirational.

To ensure to provide the best that we can, we always reach out to the venue and other vendors of clients’ choice ahead of time to get familiar with each other and communicate out all the necessary details. All we want is to let the newlyweds be worries-free on their wedding day.

All the wedding packages we offer will get you covered for the entire wedding, from dressing up, first look, ceremony, reception, all the way to send-off. We capture those moments that would put your eyes in tears when you look back in time. Another big element to capture in order to present your story is the audio. We mic-up the officiant, bride and groom, family and friends so that you can be reminded of those treasuring moments.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person I want to dedicate my shoutout to is my wife, no doubt. Work-life balance is very important to me. However, having a day job and shooting photos and videos during the weekends makes it very hard to keep it balance, not to mention all the endless editing, color grading, and photoshop work at night. Therefore, she deserves all the credit, and I cannot appreciate her enough for all her support and sacrifice. By the way, did I mention that she got me my first camera for birthday before we started The Simple Theory business?
