We had the good fortune of connecting with Keturah Saddler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keturah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking has played a significant role in my life. I started modeling just because I wanted to regain confidence in myself as a woman. I never thought I’d walk on runways or even get booked to model for different brands. My decision to take modeling serious and build on my momentum was a huge risk. I am new mom & newly divorced…I had to figure out how I was going to provide for my daughter and myself all while trying to pursue the one thing that made me feel like myself. I would think to myself “ how am I going to pay for digitalis when my daughter is growing faster than I ever expected “

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a petite commercial model has been an uphill challenge. The hardest part was once I started to gain momentum, I got pregnant with my daughter. I was so concerned with not looking the part anymore I truly thought I wouldn’t be able to model anymore. I realized that inclusivity is huge in modeling right now. Most brands want real relatable models and that is something I am. I learned that modeling is all about consistency, confidence, and being aware of what you represent.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting Seattle, I would take them a few different places. The first stop would have to be the space needle. Seattle is most well known for this building and we can have dinner there as well. Another thing Washington is known for its greenery and amazing mountains, so a hike would be a great way to see why people love it here. I would definitely take them to eat at some of my favorite spots which would be Lizzie Lou’s cafe, Tokyo steakhouse, & House teriyaki wok. To have some fun and drinks, I would go to supernova nightclub, Red lounge, Q nightclub, first & bell, or walk around Capitol Hill until we find a bar that seems fun. Afterwards, we would stop at Mario’s pizza for an amazing slice! I would love to take my friends to some of the museums we have like the museum of pop culture, museum of flight, Seattle art museum, and chihuly garden and glass.

Depending on the time of year (hopefully summer) we could go to a mariners baseball game, Seahawks football game, or kraken hockey game!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! My mom, Kimberly Saddler is instrumental in my story. Aside from being the amazing mother she is, she has pushed me to put my all into everything that I do. From sending me castings, to reading contracts my mom has always had my best interest at heart, made sure I wasn’t being taken advantage of, and always checked the validity of every brand I have worked with.
