We had the good fortune of connecting with Keshia Prince and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keshia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Fear is what tends to hold us back from reaching our goals at times, so taking risks is very important. In my life, the most difficult and satisfying goals to reach have been those that I chose to do the opposite of what my fear was telling me to do. I moved from Georgia to California pretty quickly with no plan, simply because I chose to follow an opportunity. I chose to start my blog, even while having doubts that it may not be as successful as I hoped. The point is that I did what my intuition told me to do. I didn’t know how I was going to get it done, but I just knew that it would work out, but that I had to start to even give it a chance to do so. So learning to trust my intuition is what has given me the ability to take risks.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner of Kiss of Prince, which is a lifestyle blog. I started the blog initially to document my journey with natural hair, and to help other people to learn to care for their hair. However, that evolved into so many things afterward, until it became a lifestyle blog. There is a current restructuring of the blog taking place, which is more focused on mental health and physical health. Starting the blog was not the easiest thing for me, but it did help me to relieve stress at times because it allowed me to use my creative skills. I had so much help from family and friends with creating the blog and promoting it before and after its launch. The most difficult part currently is staying consistent with my other obligations, as well as finding content that I think others would like to see. However, I’ve learned that it’s okay for my blog to evolve, as I myself change. Those who want to follow will continue to support. I have been told that I should write more, so my blog is now going to have a heavy focus on written articles related to physical and mental health. My background as a mental health provider, as well as my own lifestyle changes and weight loss journey will provide perspective on those aspects in my blog. I hope to continue to educate others, but also encourage people to be their best self.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Most of the places that I would visit are related to food, because I love to eat. So the restaurants would be Spin, El Tesoro, The Vortex (Elvis Burger) and of course Waffle House if you don’t have one in your state, but the Georgia Waffle House’s are the best one’s I have been to hands down. I really like walking on the Belt Line, the graffiti by the Old Fourth Ward, and Ponce City Market. I also love going to the High Museum of Art, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Piedmont Park (especially when they do the festivals), and Krog Street Market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow! There are so many people that deserve recognition for where I am today. My family and friends have played a huge role, but I have also received encouragement from complete strangers along the way. Every little bit has helped me. My mentors in the mental health field, and the creatives that I take inspiration from on social media also deserve recognition. Also to my spiritual coach, Miledys for helping me to stay centered and focus on my healing and growth, so that I can be of help to others.
