We had the good fortune of connecting with Keshay Jeffries and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keshay, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
While having a business for the last 3 almost 4 years I’ve learned the thought of limitation and unrealism is purely based on the mindset. There can be a million things going wrong in your life but as long as you don’t rush it and learn to alter the negative into a positive you can achieve anything you want. I’ve had many instances where I thought going into a new venture would be better than the last or would make me less than but either way my mindset of knowing where I want to be in my life has not changed. And though in many ways to me it seemed like I was failing I was actually exceeding my expectations subconsciously. Your point of view in life whether it is defined by your business or not can automatically tell you how your outcome is going to be.

It was difficult to take risk in things that I wanted to be perfect; in my eyes perfection is not unrealistic, so if I’m able to achieve it I will. But I’ve realized trying to be perfect isn’t always the best solution nor will it bring you the best end result in most cases. I’ve been venturing into different things over the past 3 years with Xslumpd and I’ve learned risk can create growth and it is not as limiting as it is trying to be perfect all the time. When I first started Xslumpd in 2018 I did it as a hobby but once I took it serious and started to realize the impact I was making on my consumers and my social media presence I tried to do everything without risk, and I didn’t really like having a business once I started limiting myself. Overall, being able to have an unlimited outlet without a limited mindset can get you very far in creating your own success and being successful at it.

I’ve also learned not everything is meant to be done alone. Sometimes it is good to have other people’s input and opinions regardless of how you view it. Especially within the fashion industry you have to move with society and the people around you. If not you’ll get left behind, but of course turn it into your own creative creation and make it stand out from the rest. Be DIFFERENT but understand change and how it moves. Because if you don’t then somebody else will.

Lastly, BE CONSISTENT.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Recently, I’ve been In discussion about putting my clothing brand Xslumpd into a retail store known as Hyped Experience including many other stores. Im also coming out with a new drop known as “SLUMPD SOCIETY” summer of 2021. Many items from the collection will be exclusive and available to purchase in store and online. Later, this year I will be coming out with “Art by Xslumpd” which I will be focusing more on my art and incorporating mostly wearable clothing within it. Such as using different types of fabrics, pattern; etc and using those as my canvas while also using other materials including metal, wood, glass; etc. I’ve come along way from my first article compared to now and I’ve experienced ALOT of decision making! Lol.

For me personally It was difficult to take risk in things that I wanted to be perfect; in my eyes perfection is not unrealistic, so if I’m able to achieve it I will. I want people to know Xslumpd isn’t just a clothing brand but a franchise with different branches to its name. I’ve purposely marked my name to make a name for itself and every new venture I take Xslumpd will automatically be involved. I don’t condemn myself to one specific category in life, so I would never limit my brand to one specific category. When people think of Xslumpd I want them to know and understand Xslumpd is a diverse brand meant for every and anybody who wants to feel comfortable within themselves without judgement or questions. Lol we’re a SlumpdFamily!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely tell them to check out some of the simple but major know places In ATL such as little Five points (which is my favorite spot in Atlanta) due to the scenery, different creative perspectives and people you may meet. Not only that you can shop and eat at the same time. Next I would take them to visit the Beltline and definitely take pictures around or of the graffiti and maybe even go for a little stroll as well. And lastly, Ponce City Market! The food! The events! The rooftop! The boutiques! It’s Amazing! Overall, I’d suggest going somewhere you can do more than one thing and feel comfortable. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s a lot of people I wish I could name individually that supports me and has helped me throughout my journey. I really appreciate Trevor Huss (@skatehusstle) one of my original brand ambassadors since 2018!! I recently took a break from Xslumpd and he still creates skate videos and post, tags and hashtags ALL the ABOVE, and I’m highly appreciative of him. I also have a new brand ambassador who helps give me a different perspective on ideas her name is Octavia (@teeskiii). And OF COURSE gotta mention the parents! Love y’all! And basically everybody who knows me that supports anything and everything I do I’m HIGHLY grateful for you.
