We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerry Anna Lemasters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kerry Anna, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?

I don’t really believe in work-life balance anymore…

The idea of living life to the fullest, in all ways, is an idea I learned from my dad. He taught me that there is just life and we get to decide how to fill our time and spend our energy.

Work takes up a significant portion of our lives, so if we start to believe that “living” is only during the hours outside of work, life begins to feel small.

After starting Tower Treats over a year ago, my life changed from a standard 9-5 to an all-encompassing passion that doubles every day. I’ve learned that an entrepreneur never really stops working, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

From early hours baking in the kitchen, to strategizing new plans late at night, some may think my life is full of “work” but I wake up every day full of excitement, ambition, and gratitude.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I started Tower Treats September of 2020 after months of daydreaming my next career move, watching The Great British Baking Show, and sadly, witnessing our world go through so much pain.

After falling in love with cookie culture in New York, I spent a few months perfecting the Tower Treats recipe – a half-pound peanut butter chocolate chip cookie – and started testing the treats with my mom’s Bible study. I discovered right then that I created a very special product and wanted to share it with everyone, hopefully sparking joy during such a bleak season. The next day, I decided on the name Tower Treats, bought the domain and haven’t turned back since.

A few months later, I quit my full-time public relations job in New York to move back home to Atlanta, GA and make my dreams turn into a reality.

About a year of figuring out how to actually start a business, operate a commercial kitchen, bake and ship at scale, wholesale products, market and distribute, and so much more, we were able to start really growing in October of 2021.

Our local ATL-based, female-founded business of 2 employees is learning new things every single day. We have expanded into wholesale markets: the Front Porch Market, Lucy’s Market, The Local Exchange and Phoenix Roasters, with the plan to be all over Atlanta in 2022!

Tower Treats is founded on the idea to “treat others as you would like to be treated,” encouraging our customers to spread joy through gifting the tastiest treats. With free nationwide shipping, Tower Treats wants to ignite a culture of gifting, one tall treat at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My all-time favorite place in Atlanta is Chastain Park. Nothing beats an early Saturday morning stroll with a coffee and pastry from The Chastain Cafe. If you’re extra hungry, order the biscuit breakfast sandwich… it will not disappoint! A few other favs include Phoenix Roasters, Revolution Donut, and a good ole walk down the Atlanta Beltline to Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

My dad, mentor, and #1 supporter, Craig Lemasters.

From the very first ideation of Tower Treats, my dad has always encouraged and pushed me. Every day, he challenges me to be a more strategic business owner and gracious leader.

I also wouldn’t be able to do any of this without the support from GXG Ventures, my mom spending countless hours in the kitchen with me, my fiancé for endless encouragement, and all my friends for supporting me through this crazy journey.
