Meet Kerima Richardson | Public figure

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerima Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kerima, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have a deep passion for content creation , dancing, music, acting, and the entire realm of entertainment. I am enamored by the creative process and the hard work that goes into bringing performances to life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Kerima Richardson, also known as Kay$rich, and I was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. From a young age, it was clear to everyone in my community that I had a natural ability to lead. My mother played a significant role in fostering my passion for giving back to our neighborhood by involving me in various non-profit organizations. Together, we participated in soup kitchens, Chinese auctions, makers markets, and numerous senior events throughout my youth.
As an activist, I found myself drawn to the arts. I loved reenacting impersonations, performing comedy, and putting on skits with my friends. However, everything changed when I discovered I was pregnant with my first child. My daughter’s diagnosis of refractory complex migraine syndrome brought about significant changes in our lives, as she frequently fell ill and had to forgo traditional activities. This led to her being homeschooled for a period of time. Despite the challenges, she developed a passion for the hair and makeup industry and began doing makeup at the young age of 16 while participating in Miss New Jersey Teen USA.
As I witnessed my daughter’s dedication and pursuit of her dreams, she became my inspiration to reignite my own creative spark. From that point forward, my focus shifted to personal freedom and creating a powerful life for my family and community.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Jersey City and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would definitely take them to Corgi Distillery. It’s a fantastic local spot where we can enjoy some delicious craft spirits and learn about the distilling process. It’s a unique experience that showcases the creativity and craftsmanship of Jersey City.
For the week-long trip, I would plan a mix of dining, exploring, and enjoying the local scene. Here’s a possible itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival and Welcome Dinner

Day 3: Adventure at Liberty State Park
– Liberty State Park is a must-visit destination in Jersey City. We would spend the day enjoying the stunning views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline. We could rent bikes and ride along the waterfront, have a picnic in the park, and take a relaxing walk along the Liberty Walkway.
Day 4: A Taste of Jersey City’s Food Scene
– Jersey City is known for its diverse culinary scene, so today we would explore different restaurants and eateries. For breakfast, we could grab some delicious pastries at Choc-O-Pain Bakery. For lunch, we could try some authentic Indian cuisine at Rasoi. In the evening, we would head to Talde, a popular Asian fusion restaurant, for a unique dining experience.
Day 5: Get Artsy in the Powerhouse Arts District
– The Powerhouse Arts District is a vibrant neighborhood filled with art galleries and creative spaces. We would spend the day exploring the various art exhibits and checking out local artists’ studios. We could also visit Mana Contemporary, a massive art complex that houses galleries, artist studios, and performance spaces.
Day 6: Relax at Liberty House Restaurant
– To unwind and enjoy a leisurely day, we would have brunch at Liberty House Restaurant. It offers stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and delectable American cuisine. Afterward, we could take a stroll along the waterfront promenade and enjoy the peaceful ambiance.

– To end the week on a high note, we would have a farewell dinner at Porta. It’s a trendy spot known for its wood-fired pizzas and lively atmosphere. Afterward, we could explore the vibrant nightlife scene in Jersey City, checking out local bars and live music venues like Pet Shop or Fox & Crow.
This itinerary combines a mix of culinary delights, cultural experiences, and outdoor adventures, giving my best friend a taste of the best Jersey City has to offer.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
