We had the good fortune of connecting with Keosha Lane-Faust and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keosha, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have a Masters degree in Social Work, and I love my profession, but if I’m being honest, it isn’t always the best paying field financially. I decided to look into myself to see what skills I possessed that would be able to benefit me financially as well as grow me professionally. I initially began my business, Uniquee Treasures, as an independent contractor for Paparazzi Accessories. I worked very hard in that area for a few years with success, but I had a vision to grow the name Uniquee Treasures to encompass more than just jewelry. I now have a record company, Uniquee Treasures Records, where I am an artist, engineer and producer and Uniquee Treasures Counseling Center is in the works.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I consider myself a Kingdom artist. I represent everything Kingdom of God. I am not perfect by far, but I strive everyday to be someone that others will look to for inspiration on their walk with God. I have been singing my whole life. My sisters and I, led by my mother, were in an acapella gospel singing group, TriAngels. I sang in the church choir and was apart of a couple of singing groups along the way to include Daughters of Zion and Heavenly Angels. It wasn’t until I became a part of FreeLife church praise team that I was challenged to write as a singer and rapper. I feel like I am set apart from others because I don’t have that “I’ve been doing this my whole life” type of attitude toward my music, I am willing to learn from others and adjust as I go along to find my groove. My singing voice is different than most mainstream singers you may hear, it’s deeper and heavier, but I sing from my heart. I think that as a singer with a different sound, I’m often overlooked for singers with that mainstream sound. After attempting to mold my sound to fit what others wanted, I quickly learned that I do Keosha better than anything and anyone else. My songs have mainly been testimony songs, or songs where I am encouraging others to press on through the things that are troubling them, just as I did. I currently have 5 singles out on all music outlets, I’m featured on 5 other artists’ songs and I have some other projects on the way. I want the world to know that I do the type of music that I do to share my experiences with them and help bring others to Christ.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is an exciting place to be at any time of the year, but if my best friend were to visit here, she would absolutely have visit the Old 4th Ward and walk around the city. There is beautiful artwork everywhere, restaurants and even bike paths to ride on. Now, I don’t ride bikes anymore, but those electric scooters do just fine. She could go and hang out in Piedmont Park, eat some lunch and people watch. She could go to the BeltLine, Historic West End and Centennial Olympic Park for the sights and the food. She could go to Ponce City Market and ride the big elevator to the rooftop and act like a kid for a day and play some putt putt golf and carnival games. She should absolutely try 9-Mile Station restaurant while she is there. If she is there for a Sunday, she should check out FreeLife Church for service at 10 AM. She would not be disappointed!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my Father God for blessing me with the talents and gifts of singing, and writing music that he has. I absolutely want to shout out my mother, who was my first introduction to music, my sisters who made up the other 2/3 of our singing group, TriAngels. I would be remiss if I left out my church families, St. John A.M.E. Zion Church and FreeLife Church where I was/am a part of the music ministry which helped to shape me as an artist. Last, but not least, my husband, Joshua (Y.P.) who is my best friend, supporter and my music partner. (We literally do music together). God is so good.
