Hi Keonta’, how does your business help the community?

My business, Eloquence Unlimited, is a full-service copywriting and copyediting firm. I got to where I am today business-wise by surrounding myself with action-oriented leaders. I changed my mindset to focus on strategy planning, implementation, and re-evaluation. I quit playing small and believed in myself enough to make my dreams a reality even when I was scared. It was not easy but I knew that if I wanted something different, I had to actually do something different. I learned to trust my instincts, ask for help, and delegate tasks and business needs to experts and professionals when feasible.

I want the world to know that when you commit to serving others and chasing down your passion, the profits will always follow. Servant leadership is the only type of leadership that creates future leaders. It’s important for the world to know that I used what I believe to be a divine gift for writing and speaking to transform the lives of thousands.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Charleston, South Carolina is one of, if not the most, culturally rich cities in America. Home to some of the oldest churches, slave markets, and cobblestoned streets the city is always enlivened with different festivals and outings to enjoy. My best friend and I would enjoy a nice picnic at Waterfront Park, which overlooks the ocean and the beautiful Charleston harbor. It also has a beautiful dock to walk out on with swing sets to enjoy the cool breeze from the water, while having some girl talk. We would rent bicycles and take a tour of the entire penninusla, checking out all of the hidden treasures in and around Downtown. We would have reservations at some of the Downtown’s best fine dining restaurants like Hanks, Poogan’s Porch, or Fleet Landing and my favorite soul food restaurants like Hannibal’s Kitchen or NaNa’s Seafood & Soul. Charleston’s beaches are always the perfect place to rest and relax, so I would absolutely have to take my bestie to the “Edge of America” Folly Beach, Sullivan’s Island, and the Isle of Palms. Coconut Joe’s right on the shores of the Isle of Palms would be the perfect spot to grab lunch and few fruity cocktails before laying out for more fun in the sun. I would also take them to any of the local festivals going on in town, from the Cajun Festival, to the Strawberry Festival, to Summerville’s Sweet Tea Festival, there is always an excuse to dress up (or down), grab a friend, and mingle and eat. Downtown Charleston is hands down one of the best places to meet some of the sweetest and most interesting people that the Holy City has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My tenacity and success are largely attributed to influences from my mother, Sabrina Backus and my mentor Pauleanna Reid. Since I was a child, my mother has encouraged me to seek a life beyond my circumstances. She knew that her resources were limited as a single mother but that never stopped her from making sure that my brother and I were equipped with everything we needed to pursue a life of endless possibilities. She constantly encouraged me to be the very best at anything I set my hands and mind to do and that instilled within me unyielding fearlessness to chase my dreams. My mentor is an acclaimed celebrity ghostwriter, who’s pathway to success has been instrumental in motivating me. She is selfless with information and has fortified within me the importance of leaving the world a better place than we found it.
