We had the good fortune of connecting with Keonta Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keonta, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Chesapeake, Virginia where it all started. I was raised by my mom Debra Coleman and 3 older sisters. I started my life aloft as an track and field athlete earning All American honors on the Juco level. Then I found film,TV, videography, and photography. My family is my inspiration. So whatever I do I carry them on my sleeve as I blossom in the field as a creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Behind the lens telling a story is one of my biggest passions. Whether it’s me capturing a compelling family photos, showing love, peace and happiness. Even capturing the vibe of exclusive events. I just love everything about being behind the camera.

I got myself in this field of art working with an independent film production company in Virginia. I started off acting which is still one of my biggest loves. I co-starred in a film called No Weapon Shall Prosper which is on the indie circuit. The film came out in 2014, which sold out in stores throughout the world. Being apart of that made me want to jump into the field. I didn’t know where I would be.

It wasn’t easy at all. It takes a ton of confidence to hop into this industry of entertainment/creative. I was ready to quit a couple years ago, because times were getting hard. I wasn’t booking gigs or using my camera much when Covid hit. What helped me overcome these challenge was the support of my lady Jen Matthews, which she is a creative herself. Her will and drive in her own creative way gave me the push to get back to filming, photography, and writing.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way is being true to myself and never giving up. I sometimes be in my own head about some of the work I put out. I want everyone to like the things I do but, that’s not always going to be the case. So, I keep striving and creating because someone will notice me.

I want the world to know that my brand is here to bring your story to the next level with film, photography, and or videography. Bringing quality relatable content to my community is one of my passions. That’s what I’m working on for 2023. My confidence has increased towards the end of 2022 as I got back into my groove. Now I’m ready to go for the gusto.

One of my biggest goals is to have my track and field based film produced this year. One thing about track and field films is, most of them are based on the distance running side. What I have under my sleeve hear is going to be amazing! Someone is going to want to pick this up!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had friends come in town to Atlanta, I’m taking them out to catch a vibe. I don’t eat meat anymore so, I would take some friends to Bar Vegan. Most people would be like naw I’m not eating that, but them Vegan Philly Cheesesteaks be bussing. The food is so good and the presentation is definitely appealing. You’re eating Semi-healthy and catching a good vibe with music.

Atlanta is a huge sports city with the Hawks, Braves, Falcons, and ATL United. So, hitting a sporting game is something we would do.

My favorite party spot Is Boogaloo Lounge! The food and drinks are amazing. The music never fails. I always bring my friends here atleast once.
,
Some honorable mention places I like Is the VR gaming place Sandbox, Puttshack, and the Beltline.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give credit to my lady, my life partner Jen Matthews. There was times I wanted to just give up on becoming what I was destined to be as a creative. Seeing her grind with her creativity gave me so much more of a push to be able go after my dreams. She presented me the opportunity to go out and film a promo video for an event for NFT NYC. I filmed a promo video for this company called Wakanomy based out in California. They loved the work a set fuel to the fire to get me back up and going.
