We had the good fortune of connecting with Kennis Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kennis, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks has been a cornerstone of my journey as a faith-based artist, propelling me towards newfound heights of success. In the realm of creativity and spirituality, it’s often tempting to remain within the comfort zone, adhering to well-trodden paths. However, I have come to realize that greatness lies just beyond the edge of familiarity. Embracing risks has allowed me to infuse my art with authenticity and passion, enabling me to connect with my audience on a profound level. Whether it’s experimenting with unconventional themes or pushing the boundaries of my artistic medium, each leap of faith has brought me closer to my artistic vision. Through these risks, I’ve uncovered hidden talents, met remarkable collaborators, and, most importantly, touched the hearts and souls of those who resonate with my message. Success as a faith-based artist, for me, has been about having the courage to explore uncharted territories and trust in the divine guidance that fuels my creativity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a recording artist and songwriter. What sets me apart from others is the approach I take with my music. I have R&B roots but as I transitioned into making more faith-based music, I wanted to be bold and innovative. As I continued to make music I wanted to incorporate different sounds like EDM and now back with R&B feels. Today I am still an independent artist working on impacting the world with the message of hope and transparency in my music. Making this type of transition isn’t the easiest especially since the sound is new to the space however, I have made some great connections, supporters and received so much encouragement along that way that the music has been able to permeate the hearts of many.

One of the lessons I’ve learned along the way is that relationships go a long way. Having the right people on your team and in your corner makes all the difference while on this journey.

I want people to know that my story is still being written and that God has been more than faithful. If God can use someone like me than He can use anyone!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting I would do a number of things. I’ve been introduced to the brunch life so I would definitely start the day with that. There is a place called “Flying Biscuit” They serve some pretty amazing food. There’s also a place named “Toast” That I recently discovered with my wife and the food is to drive for. We would definitely visit Midtown and some of the events they have going on there. There’s also a drive-in movie spot on Moreland. Piedmont Park is great to visit and so is Ponce city market for various attractions. Top golf would surely need to get worked into the schedule and pay a visit down to five points to visit Criminal Records. Even though I haven’t been there yet, I like to see what jams they have available. These are just a few of the places and things id like to show around.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Id like to dedicate my Shoutout to my Mother. Dedicating my mother as a pinnacle part of my journey is both an honor and a source of unwavering strength. Her unwavering love, boundless support, and profound wisdom have been the guiding light that illuminated my path in life. As I ventured into the unknown, chasing dreams and pursuing passions, her unwavering belief in me served as a steadfast anchor, keeping me grounded even during the stormiest of times. She has been my source of inspiration, teaching me the values of resilience, compassion, and unwavering faith. In every achievement and setback, I’ve carried her lessons and the warmth of her presence with me, knowing that her enduring love is the bedrock upon which my journey is built. Dedicating my mother as an integral part of my journey is a testament to the immeasurable impact she has had on shaping me into the person I am today, and I am eternally grateful for her unwavering presence in my life.
