We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenneth Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenneth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My mom is a beautician and growing she has always had her own business. Whether i realized it or not she’s always been my biggest influence and through watching her navigate I knew at some point i wanted to survive and flourish working for myself or with a team. I didn’t want to always be working for and building up someone else’s vision versus my own. First came All My Homies and eventually as my love for photography grew i started T.O.C photography which ultimately became HoLup Media.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have two primary businesses, but through those businesses I’m also an artist/creative. All My Homies started out as a music collective amongst friends that always did music together. It was called All My Homies initially because of a Sesame Street shirt John was wearing “All My Homies are from the streets” that was us and it fit. Overtime it has developed into more of a community of vibes, a one stop entertainment shop, still dealing in the music industry but in different ways than we initially intended. We were more rapper/singer driven before now we house many DJs and producers, media personell, artist management and development, branding etc. Through All My Homies, what is now HoLup Media was born out of necessity to have photos and videos without having to spend an arm and a leg each time. Started as a something necessary for the business but developed into a passion and a form of expression that has put me in rooms and places I couldn’t have pictured initially. HoLup Media is my Photography/Videography business through that i do an array of sports, music events, conferences, model and family portraits, you name it I shoot it. In November of 2022 I quit my hospital job and I’ve been grinding it out full time since and i couldn’t be happier! In that journey the most important part has been consistency, sounds cliche but it is so important to be present and consistent. Don’t go into any situation thinking you know it all be an open notepad absorbing all lessons and turning those into actual actions.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my mom, ultimately she is the reason in more ways than one that i am even on this journey. Seeing her never give up and never really complain built something in me that i carry til this day and beyond. Both my daughters deserve a lot of credit, because of them im not allowed to nor will i allow myself to fail or give up. They keep me going and are a constant reminder that someone’s watching so always put forth your best effort. Also My business partner John on the journey a lot of people have fell of and tried to jump back on the train. There’s never been a fall off with John he’s always understood the mission and has been like minded in the execution of the visions.
