We had the good fortune of connecting with Keniysha J Watts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keniysha J, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My balance has changed drastically over the course of when I first started my business until now. Whereas I started my business in great health and only two children, but here I am today a mother of three small children and overcoming stage 4 breast cancer as well as brain cancer. My work life balance had to shift to where I could not physically do my part like I’ve always have, but to still run my business successfully and do so virtually. With the pandemic and my diagnosis of breast cancer I had to completely halt business altogether until I could find away to balance my health, family and businesses. Now I teach other event planners and creatives how to start their own business and doing so debt free. All while going through chemotherapy and taking care of my family.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a young girl I always dreamed of having my own business to showcase my creative side in design. I was the one who would sit and watch wedding shows and movies all day and that oneway I too would do the same as the many men and women I looked up to in the event/wedding industry. My purpose for starting my profession as a luxury event planner/designer was so that I could be the light to bring individuals dream day into reality. So many of us have such an amazing creative mind that we need someone like myself to bring it to reality. Sometimes I have had very difficult clients who challenge me to bring out every bit of me to create their vision. And it can be overwhelming at times because we know what we want but can be hard to really decipher it like we want. But I have learned that patience and understanding goes hand in hand with working with individuals who trust your creativeness to bring their dreams to reality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am still myself exploring what all Atlanta. has to offer but when my friends come to visit I always take them to Cirque Daiquiri Bar & Grill. Their menu is great food is always delicious drinks are the best and the turn up is real almost any day of the week. My friends and I love to eat and dance, one of my favorites spots to hangout at is also The Live Battery ATL great vibes always when we go. Im still new to the area so Im still searching for more places.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes my dear friend and colleague, Dejane Hill of Posh Events Atlanta. We initially met on Facebook four years ago in an event planners group somehow someway we connected on a more personal level than the others in the group. At the time I was still staying in my hometown Pensacola, Florida but in the process of relocating to Atlanta. We stayed connected through the years giving each other support and love even though we were in the same industry we vowed to collaborate once we got together. Once I moved to Atlanta she has been my biggest supporter and sister/friend who helped me get through some of the darkest times in business and in my personal life. I can’t thank her enough for always being a true genuine friend and big sister.
