Hello my Name is Kendry aka sweetkay, I am a upcoming plus size model/ influencer in Atlanta, Ga. You can find me on most social media platforms under IAMSWEETKAY!
Hi Kendry, how do you define success?
As of today I define my success as a upcoming model on the raise. I am a current Curvy Babe Crew model for the Arita Lashon brand . I am also the face of the 929kellycurve brand . While I continue to grow as a model and build up my following base.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I was younger I struggle so much with the way looked because, I was bullied a lot in school. I grew up in a small town call Camilla, Ga, where the only dream I had was getting old enough to move out of the abusive household the I was in. I move to Atlanta back 2013 just to get away from the small country town life and haven’t looked back since. I found Atlanta to be the land of opportunity but never in a million years did I see myself as a model. I gave modeling a try after going to get my makeup done for the first time and the makeup artist told me I should be a model. I actually looked at her crazy and started laughing for saying something I thought was so crazy. However, I did take what she said into consideration and booked my first call call two weeks later. Out of thirty out well polish model, I made the cut of the top four girls and at that point I knew modeling was for me. I feel that being a plus size model and sharing my story give other young girls who look like me something to dream for in life. I hope that I can truly touch other life and help them to see it’s ok to be different and self love is so important!
Do you Have kids? How do you balance your career and parenting life?
Yes, I am a single Mother of three kids. I have one handsome son and two beautiful daughters. The balance between my career and my parenting life is pretty easy. First and foremost before doing anything I do in life I way the odds of how it will impact my kids in the long run. I always take time out of my busy lifestyle to give to them. I also let them be apart of it in anyway that I possibly can. I encourage my kids to follow the dreams and be the best person they can be. My daughters are my biggest supporters when it come to modeling. They watch and copy everything I do, so it’s always important to make sure that I’m always at my best for them. They love to see me getting ready for photoshoot, so they can tell me how pretty I look. Every morning when they wake up for school I play Good Morning Gorgeous, by Mary J Blige to start them out with a positive morning vibes and remind them of how beautiful they are.
Do modeling Impact your regular work life, if you have one?
I actually have two jobs because while I love Atlanta, it can be expensive lol.
Modeling really do not impact my work life much because I’m usually scheduled for photoshoot for Saturdays. Modeling actually give me something to look forward to on the weekends after have a stressful week at work. The only thing I use to be worried about is my upper management, saying something about some of the photos I have because they are implied nudes.
What would you say is the biggest factor of your success?
I would say the biggest factor behind my success as a model is having confident in myself. I make sure that when I apply for casting call I show up and show out. Also having a great support team behind you and being able to accept positive criticism. In the modeling world you have to be coachable in order for people to work with you. If you know everything how you going to learn something new? I always have a positive mindset at every casting call even if I don’t make the cut I always ask for feedback, and take it as a learning experience for next time. Im where I am today because I stayed focus on my dreams and kept pushing. It wasn’t easy along the way but I stuck it out because I wanted to be an positive impact on someone life.
