We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Townsend and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kendra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My final semester of college at The University of Memphis was coming to a close and I was wanting to begin something that would help me display my talents. What originally started as a hobby, blogging and photography, grew into something much more. After having some difficulty snagging the perfect gig after school, I decided to turn my “hobby into a paycheck”.
In school I’d learned some basic Adobe Illustrator skills and began to explore the possibilities of using the application for business. I began designing logos, business cards and websites (which I also began to dabble with in college). I continued to develop my skills and continued to add new services to my now, Brand and Media Agency.
I have also started two other endeavors.
What should our readers know about your business?
For me, I feel this is only the beginning! I have so many ideas and so many places I want my brand to go, but no matter where The Kendra Emil Brand is being represented, I want my brand’s image to convey Prestige and Professionalism.
My mission is to set a new standard; producing high quality work, while maintaining the utmost level of professionalism. I want to build memorable brands and protect my client’s reputations and it is hard to do that without trust.
I have always been a “creative”. My education and passions helped me get to where I am today: Taking art classes as electives in college, Learning 3 instruments as a young girl, Being a part of the middle school choir, Sketching outfits and sewing together fabrics to make clothes for my dolls all led me to where I am now.
Not only my positive skills and qualities make me who I am, but I’ve learned that the worst times can often give the clearest view of who you truly are.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
