We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Burnette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendra, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because transforming home spaces is just pure therapy for me. I am both artistic and very creative with what I do. I take such pleasure in being able to design a beautiful and inviting space. Being in a creative mindset allows me to really attain a limitless direction. Being creative also challenges me to be completely free in my unique and artistic style.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Professional Home Organizer and Organizational Coach, my career has been cultivated with years of being in various work industries that helped shape my professional business today. I started out in the restaurant industry which helped teach me how to treat people as if they were in my own home. I learned how to be welcoming and pleasant to people. I then branched off into Retail Management. The retail industry is not an easy job. I worked long hours, especially during the holiday seasons. Being in management, I had a team to direct and guide all while keeping the entire store pristine condition. Retail Management was a challenge, but it taught me about eccentric floor plans, sales and marketing, store organization and overall customer service. I also worked as a Legal Assistant in a law firm. This particular industry prepared me with reading and constructing contracts, and understanding legal systems and court proceedings. It helped me to understand business overall. I’ve taken every experience within these fields and applied it to my own business. Before I established my business, I was at a point where I could implement these industries into a consolidated foundation. Making someone’s home space feel like my own home was similar to the restaurant industries, mastering store modules, sales and marketing resembled retail management, and understanding business contracts within the law field all helped me establish my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a hostess at heart! My friends are my circle of joy, so when I’m around them, I go to great lengths to ensure that they’re enjoying themselves. If I had a friend in town, we’d have a nice brunch somewhere in a beautiful outside venue. I’m all about bottomless Mimosas, so we would have the ultimate brunch. Later during the evening, I’d take my best friend to a funky jazz spot. I love live music, and I absolutely enjoy music that have rhythmic healing vibrations. We would dance the night away and go to a late night diner afterwards. The next day I would take my friend to a nice sunny rooftop location and have a nice lunch. I love adventurous outings, so I’m always meeting different people that always suggest another cool spot to visit. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my “Shoutout” to my Beloved and Late Grandmother, Lucy Lee. My Grandmother was exceptionally pivotal in my upbringing. She was the true definition of grace, style and unconditional love. She is the reason I learned so many life lessons, wisdom and the love of being the country girl that I am. She is my Ancestor continuously watching over me.
