We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendall Stowell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendall, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was a necessity and a want. I had just had my first child, and we couldn’t afford for me not to work but also really wanted to have a flexible schedule. Instagram had just started, and I saw this need for helping small businesses with their digital marketing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
KS Creative is a boutique, creative marketing firm working with smaller, creative business anywhere from social media, to website design, to photoshoots. It has taken over 6 years, but we are now up to 4 employees (all women!) and couldn’t be happier.

There are always challenges, but what sets us apart is really being the true voice for our clients and taking the time to understand and know them and their business. I think for them, it is such a relief we can represent them in that way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If it was a Scott’s or Lakewood Antiques weekend, we would probably start there – I have always loved treasure shopping! We would probably then head to the westside to Taqueria del Sol for lunch and see all my friends’ shops from my Billy Reid days in WSPD…then end up at one of my favorite restaurants (who happens to also be a client!), Redbird. If we wanted to head for a nightcap somewhere, I love a rooftop bar! So maybe the top of PCM, the new Kimpton hotel or even something downtown.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Kyle Tibbs Jone took me under her wing and mentored me on social media and PR. What she did for me was invaluable! Also, without my supportive husband, partner and best friend, starting this would not have been possible.
