We had the good fortune of connecting with Ke’Mari Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ke’Mari, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
During the start of COVID, I had to cut my cheer/dance season short at the school I worked at and was also made aware that there would not be any sports the following school year. However, I still wanted to provide an outlet for the girls that I coached. I called a couple of my current members, discussed my idea, and in July 2020, Unique Stars Performing Arts was born!

What should our readers know about your business?
Mission/vision: Unique Stars Performing Arts is youth program that mentors kids ages 3-12 in the Metro Atlanta area through competitive cheerleading, tumbling, dance, and drama.

It is our mission to expose today’s youth to various styles of performing arts at an affordable cost through sisterhood, positive reinforcement, and mentoring that will continue with them throughout their lifetime!

Was it easy ?
Absolutely not! It was extremely hard finding a building to call our “studio home” as there are cheer gyms and dance studios all over Georgia. In 2020, we started Unique Stars practicing at a local park rain or shine with 28 girls, and now have a studio home in Lithia Springs serving over 80 athletes. Although there are about 5 cheer and dance studios within 15 min of us, our dedicated staff, rapport, and affordable programs set us apart from the rest.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my assistant director, Coach Thornton for listening to all of my crazy ideas and always sticking by my side!
