Meet Kelsey Johns | Owner of Glasswing Rentals

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Johns and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelsey, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factors in Glasswing Event and Wedding Rentals’ success is the passion for learning new things, getting outside of comfort zones, and dreaming of big futures. We are constantly striving to develop new skills and take every event as an opportunity to absorb more efficient ways of providing quality service. Our staff members have a love for working with people and new styles, especially if there is color involved. In the next year, Glasswing Rentals looks forward to working with many more couples and aims to expand into other events such as corporate dinners, baby showers, rehearsal dinners, etc.
The owner, Kelsey Johns, biggest piece of advice is to “not let the fear of making mistakes paralyze you from starting or continuing. You are on your path and can’t get off of it. So work hard to make your dream a reality.”
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Glasswing Event and Wedding Rentals LLC is a rental company with a wide range of rental offerings including dinnerware, chargers, glassware, napkins, custom mirror signage, flatware, custom name tags, candlesticks, etc. Glasswing works directly with clients to design the perfect unique tablescape and offers many customizable rentals in areas of Atlanta, GA. We provide quality products and services at competitive prices and promise to always treat people with respect.
One of the toughest challenges in the beginning was discovering where to purchase the best quality items. The owner spent around 6 months to a year doing research and building the inventory before launching to insure that the quality was up to par with expectations. Through the challenges, there are many opportunities to grow and learn. While they may be difficult, all of them were necessary to expand Glasswing.
Something that is important to Glasswing Rentals’ brand is the story behind their name. The name, GlassWing, has a lot of meaning and here is why: As mentioned earlier, the owners’ mother has been a huge part of their success. Throughout everything the owner has done in life, their mom was always their number one supporter. Her support for their dream of doing event rentals was no different. When the owner was searching for the perfect name, she wanted to use something that would show her appreciation for her mother. Growing up, anytime her sister or her had nightmares, their mother would say to think of butterflies. “Glasswing” is the name of a butterfly with glasslike wings as shown in our logo. It was a perfect symbol of her love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A nice breakfast at Atlanta Breakfast Club would begin our day. After, we would visit the Museum of Design Atlanta and explore the many stunning antique shops in AtL. Without a doubt, dinner would be at one of my favorite venues and restaurants, Swan Coach House. At some point, we would enjoy a nice picnic at Piedmont Park as well as explore the Atlanta Botanical Garden. We would also stop for light shopping in Ponce city market and Atlantic Station in addition to eating at The Yard House.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am very fortunate to have a lot of strong women in my life. After mentioning my desires to open an event rentals business, my mother and mother in law, on separate occasions, encouraged me to begin immediately without hesitation. In the absence of their support, it would have always just been an idea, and never a reality. I am very lucky to have their support and encouragement.
