Meet Kelsey Huntley: Author And Mentor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Huntley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelsey, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I really love this question! In all honesty, life always gives you a reason to give up . It’s really when you find your purpose and who you are in life is what really gives you the reason to never quit. No matter what obstacles come your way you always remember this is why I am here. This is what works for me anyway, and trust me it’s easier said then done . I have learned through my life lessons to lean and depend on God and when I can’t see my way and when I want to call it quits God be coming through real hard. I’ve seen it so many times in my life. So I want you all to know that you are here for a reason, find out why you are here and giving up will never be an option for you . Once you know there is bigger for you then you will see your life as something great . Well all have it in us you just have to dig .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being an Author isn’t an easy thing for me. The process of being an Author is probably the difficult part . As a young girl I loved to write . I would find myself being zoned out and it was just me, my pencil and notebook. I remember I would go outside and just sit and stare at the trees moving in the wind and look and the sky and I would just begin to write about the beauty . My passion has always been there . When I was going though so much as a young girl I had no one to talk to and that is when my writing became my outlet . When I started to write in my pain, tears would begin to fall on my paper . There was no other way for me to release my pain but to write .I always knew I wanted to write a book about my life . I really didn’t know when or how but I knew my story needed to be heard . It was a challenge guys because my pain was deep and I told myself I don’t ever want to feel that pain again so I forgot . My memory was lost from a lot of things because I was so hurt and so writing again was like digging up my pain again . It was a challenge for me and the only reason I am able to still keep writing is because I look back and see the people it was helped and set free. What an amazing feeling to be able to see lives being changed. I will continue to write and produce, challenges will come but it’s always about how you press through to the end of the test .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is a very fun and exciting place to visit . If my friends come into town we are definitely hitting up Stone Mountain. I am a nature girl . I love to explore and see the beauty in nature. I have come to find out that in Georgia it’s so many hidden treasures. I can’t even name them all but it’s so many beautiful spots to sit down and enjoy the view. There’s also so many places to eat . I lovvveeee to eat !! This is the place for great food . Get you a good restaurant kick your feet up and eat . A nice trip to the skating rink is a good night out. You may not know how to skate but it’s fun learning . Six flags is another fun activity, that’s a whole days worth, you will be tired by the time you leave . If you like good music ending the night in a cute little lounge is more my taste . There’s plenty of those as well here . I love switching it up trying new things gets me excited. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I really want to thank God first and foremost . And it’s not a cliché but he really has looked out for me my entire life . I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the big dog up stairs . I also want to give big ups to my God Mother and also my Pastor. Y’all.!! Man if you all knew this lady you would say the same too . She has pushed me in so many areas . She has loved me beyond what I felt I was capable of being loved . I really can’t say it all because it would be so much . All I can say that it was God sent and watching her helped develop me into the young lady I am now . Also I have a lot of sisters and brothers as well who have been by side and helped push me along the way . I call them my tribe ! They know who they are and they all rock . I have met some solid people in my life and I’m thankful for them . Even my friends I adore them . I’m so glad I can call on them. We talk, we laugh, we push, we pray. Get you some friends that can do that !! I am very blessed . My circle is blessed and it helps push me to be better .
