We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelsey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted the opportunity to give woman a natural way to express themselves through fitness. I want them to feel confident in their bodies and understand that you CAN achieve the body that you want and feel better without having to alter yourself with surgeries or quick fixes that aren’t sustainable. I believe that it all starts with our intention behind taking care of ourselves and fitness plays a huge part in that!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an entrepreneur with a regular 9-5 as well! I work with Enterprise Mobility which has been an amazing experience the last 5 years. I’ve gained leadership skills and business acumen that has helped me understand great customer service and build a really strong foundation for my brand and how I train my clients. I’m most proud of my ability to keep it all running! I’m able to be fully invested in my career but also do what I love in my free time which is hitting the gym and all things fitness! It has not been easy, but it’s worth the time spent, the late nights and the commitment that it takes to get where I want to go in life. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that consistency is not a straight line like most may think. Sometimes it looks like 20% today versus 100%, but that 20% is still forward momentum as long as you DON’T QUIT. That’s the biggest lesson, just don’t stop.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m honestly enjoy more of relaxing, chill vibe! My best friend is, too. We’d likely hit a brunch spot downtown, then go do some shopping! Ross, Forever 21, Nordstrom Rack, Aldo- ALL my faves just to name a few! For drinks, we’d be back downtown at Cantina 76, or maybe Mark’s Grill, a really nice in the spring/summer for the outdoor seating. Market on Main would come into play at some point for the live music and good eats!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my high school/college coaches, Dion Rose and Lawrence Terry. Without their belief in me as an athlete I likely wouldn’t have had the success nor the drive/willingness to start my brand, K Active. My family’s support both immediate and extended had made a huge difference in my success thus far too! Their belief in me, they’re support of my ideas and just simply LISTENING and encouraging, has meant everything to me. My support system is something I’ll forever be grateful for!
