Meet Kelly Little | Licensed Esthetician and Pro Bridal Make up Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Little and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, why did you pursue a creative career?
I always enjoyed art as a kid. When it comes to make up artistry, knowing your primary colors is key. This plays a big role in foundation matching and then know what colors balance well per skin tone. I love to creative different looks and see the reaction of my clients when they see the final result. Once I tapped into the Bridal world, I knew this was my specialty because I pay close attention to detail and ensure it’ll look timeless on camera. I pursued artistry because I really enjoy creating timeless looks with each and every person I meet. It’ll always be dear to my heart.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Bridal Make up Specialist of 6 years now and Licensed Esthetician. Skin and beauty are very important to me and I love to help others with their skincare needs and then beauty needs. I am proud of my knowledge of beauty and skin. I keep up with products but I also know what to look for within products. It’s a skill to look at someone and know a product suggestion or skincare suggestion. I am always learning, so I wouldn’t say I know it all – I just pay attention and stay educated.
It took constant practice and courses that got me to where I am today. I always aim to educate myself each quarter of the year whether it’s business related or artistry related. Many have pride when it comes to learning new skills and techniques – I’ll always try it to see if it works for me.
Lessons I’ve learned – don’t ever “not ask questions”. Whether it’s someone you work with or look up to – don’t hesitate to ask questions because we can all learn from each other. There have definitely been some slow and hard times – for ex: this summer was my slowest summer EVER! But I took a mentoring course and readjusted my backed and now I am better prepared for the future for my clients experience.
What I want everyone to know is that TIME IS PATIENCE. I have been blessed with patience and I know that’s what has helped me over time and being skilled in many things: Educating others, personal beauty shopping, skincare specialist, body waxing and more.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friends came in time, we always have to find a food and drink spot. I love south end or optimist hall near uptown Charlotte which has tons of food spots. I also like to find a nice hookah lounge with good music such as the Piece Pipe or Members Only which a small black owned spot in the Plaza mid wood area. We may have a taco night at the house with custom margaritas followed by a game night. I would also introduce them to other friends in the area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my Husband for always supporting me and pushing me to do more. I also want to shout out my sisters in beauty as I have a group of ladies that I talk to frequently and we push and support one another. The industry is tough sometimes and it’s important to have like-minded individuals around you that understand the ups and downs.
