Meet Kelly Kole and Joann Kandrac | Co-Founders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Kole and Joann Kandrac and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly Kole, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We are not afraid to dip our toes into uncharted waters. We are the first to say “YES” even though it scares us. It keeps the adrenaline pumping and helps us to continue to grow as designers and as a business. Because of this mantra, we’ve done a lot of crazy projects that have been really worthwhile.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Voted one of Atlanta’s Top 20 Residential Interior Designs by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Kandrac & Kole has been featured on HGTV as well as in The New York Times, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Better Homes & Gardens, Southern Home Magazine and many others. Over 17 years in business, Kandrac & Kole has established a well known reputation for their approachable, dynamic personalities, their signature use of color and pattern and their one of a kind, custom designs.

As industry experts for residential and commercial design, Joann Kandrac & Kelly Kole share upbeat and entertaining narratives regarding their design projects, travels and personal stories on their podcast Inside Design with Kandrac & Kole and via national speaking engagements. The podcast is about to enter it’s 5th year and has gained a lot of dedicated listeners.

Joann and Kelly’s love and commitment to the power of interior design also extends towards their charity work throughout the U.S. and Guatemala.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Anybody that comes to visit us knows to be prepared for long days of fun and merriment. We are always on the hunt for the interesting and unusual – whether that be scouring the booths at Scotts Antique Market or visiting shoppes in the Westside Market. We are big fans of art galleries and make regular visits to DK Gallery, Gregg Irby Gallery, Anne Irwin Fine Art and Huff Harrington. We also love garden shops like Boxwoods.

A staple farm to table lunch while on the run is Souper Jenny’s or a more civilized lunch eating outside at Le Colonial if we have time. We also love an intimate dinner at The Burgess Hotel with friends from out of town. If we have a friend visiting for a couple of days, a trip to Serenbe is a must.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We are simply the faces of a much larger team behind Kandrac & Kole. We are only successful because of our project management team (Lisa & Lynn), our installers, our window treatment fabricators, our painters, craftsman, photographers and showrooms that we rely on every single day.
