We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Genn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business has been many things over the years. I’ve pivoted many times to go with trends and different mediums I tried. Once I came to painting and specifically flowers, I started to really enjoy experimenting within that area of art. I also loved making hoop art and started incorporating more florals into those. The hoops and the different painted items I had for sale quickly became my best sellers and I felt I had truly found my niche.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a reflection of what makes me happy. I love bright colors and flowers. I love documenting life so my family portraits and house drawings are some of my favorite pieces that I offer. I want people to smile when they see my art. Whether it’s whimsical rainbows, floral painting, or a portrait of their very first home, I want my art to be something the customer will love for years to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Sugar Hill and I love our downtown area. We have the sweetest little coffee shop called Rushing Trading Co. The food and the coffee is amazing. We also live fairly central to a few different cities so finding something to do it’s too much of a drive. We love hitting up Rockin Jump for our kids and Top Golf for family outings in Buford. For dinner, my husband and I’s favorite place to go right now is Izumi in Cumming, just a 15 min drive away.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be anywhere with out the support of my family. My parents are always sharing my work and suggesting my services. My husband works so hard so that I can pursue my passion. And my best fired has been my number one customer from day one!
