We had the good fortune of connecting with Kellie Kolen (KK Roxwel) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kellie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Being able to express myself in a colorful or poetic way brings me peace. I’ve been a creative all my life, I started out as a rap artist who paints as well. Years later, I turned all of the things I love into a platform called art2rtis. This platform was created so that other artist can showcase their talents.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion project art2rtis gives me the opportunity to delve into the minds of other creatives, and I’m extremely pleased and excited about it. Being a creative allows me to express myself freely, which gives me a lot of joy. I overcame my difficulties by taking small steps and avoiding negative ideas. Fear is merely an obstacle to becoming your actual self, according to the one thing I’ve learned. I want the world to know that I am a creative person who believes in encouraging others to shine brightly because light is love, and love will always shine through. I’d like for people to know that art2rtis was founded on the idea of allowing artists to converge and express the many textures that connects us all through the human experience of art (I.e sight, sound, smell and taste). Our motto is, “Let’s talk, and most importantly, let’s share.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be honest, I can’t think of a specific location where I would take them. I am the art loving friend who enjoys visiting art galleries and listening to live music and poetry. We have so many locations to see in Atlanta that it would be difficult to pick just one.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dr. Frederick Brockington is my mentor, and he holds me accountable not only verbally but also via his entrepreneurial deeds. As I watch my fam friends, my goldens, and many others achieve their goals, I am inspired. You know who you are, seed planters, because I personally harvest my garden on a daily basis. Listening to my inner voice and just manifesting the things I want out of life are also important.
