We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelley Sibley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelley, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our success at Bamboo is creating something truly authentic and has genuine intention behind it. Our brand is built to inspire people and give them access to nourishment that helps them live their healthiest lives. Our juices, elixirs and smoothies are not just products we sell – they are meticulously handcrafted items that create real change and real results for people looking to heal and maintain health.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When I created the brand, I was going through a large health issue. I realized there was no high-quality juice in the Atlanta area, which was a huge issue because it was a big part of my healing journey. I was inspired by Dr. Max Gerson who created a natural treatment system that activates the body’s ability to heal itself through a specific protocol that includes raw juices. I was making these juices for myself daily and thought about how wonderful it would be if I could share this with others who are so in need of these juices and the healing properties that result from drinking one daily. People who were aware of my juicing journey started asking if they could buy one from me, so it was a very organic start to the business.

The steps we take in making our juices are purposeful and deliberate. All our items are inspired by health practitioners who use these juices for medicinal purposes. We go beyond the incredibly important, yet simple aspects of what is labeled on every one of our glass bottles – raw, organic, and cold pressed juices. Our juices are truly raw which means that they have never undergone enzyme and mineral depleting heating methods commonly used by other brands to extend shelf life. Our juices serve as a powerful shield against preventable diseases and ailments, including the common cold, hypertension, and inflammation. Juice goes right into your bloodstream, so it is imperative that what you are ingesting is clean. None of our cold-pressed products are pasteurized in any way which allows more of the naturally found nutrients and enzymes in organic produce to be preserved during processing. It’s also worth mentioning that when you pasteurize, it yields extra sugar which means a person would have to drink 3-4 pasteurized juices to get the same amount of nutrients from one of our juices.

On top of that, we use only glass bottles. Plastic is made with BPA and other harmful chemicals that can leach into your juice. Bamboo also recycles glass bottles returned by customers to reduce our waste and carbon footprint. Additionally, everything is made to order in small batches with each press creating just enough produce to fill approximately 6-10 bottles of juice. Pressing juice in small batches ensures the maximum amount of the fragile nutrients, vitamins and enzymes have been extracted from the fruits and vegetables. When you mass produce juices, the product loses its integrity and potency. Our made-to-order business style is another aspect of our brand that truly sets us apart.

We also offer more than juices! Our almond milks are inspired by my travels around the world. I was lucky enough to go to over 40 countries and see firsthand how other cultures use herbs to heal the body – so different from what we are used to over here. I learned all about adaptogens and how to create something that tastes good and that we can enjoy daily. The elixirs we offer are older remedies that our grandmothers used to use to support the body when it was rundown. And last, but certainly not least, we also offer smoothies which reinforces the importance of fiber. Fiber is just as imperative as the juice we should be consuming every day. You need fiber for a healthy microbiome and that’s why it’s on the menu.

Today, we have a brick and mortar located in Serenbe as well as deliver both locally and nationally. I’m most excited and proud that we can continue to offer the public our meaningful products that support the immune system and healing as well as overall health. Our small yet incredibly purposeful menu of juices, elixirs and smoothies to help people feel good. We’re grateful to share that with the community.

Of course, with creating a business there are always going to be challenges – that’s life. The good thing is, you learn through your challenges and that’s what yields the most growth. When you put something out into the world with pure intentions, the universe just supports you. Our intention is not anything else besides how can I help the person in front of me feel better? You end up in the right places at the right times in front of the right people. I feel like that happened when the universe put me in front of Garnie Nygren, COO & Co-Managing Director of Serenbe Development, and my partner at Bamboo. Garnie and the team at Serenbe truly made this the real business it is today. Before Garnie, it was me doing it all by myself in the industrial kitchen. With a pure heart and the right intention, the universe will support you and put you in the place where your product can thrive.

Our products create real change and have real effects — this is why professional athletes partner with us, why nutritionists come to our kitchen to learn, and why we have customers that are still subscribed with us all 10 years we’ve been in business.

An integral lesson learned through my journey is not all juice is created equal. Through my health crisis I spent a lot of money on juices that are not helpful. Even if it has similar ingredients and same claims, all juice is not created equal. When a juice is made the right way, with precision, love, and intention, it has a different effect on your body. We are excited to share that with everybody — this is what you should be drinking.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you’re looking to have the best, most fulfilling week, look no further than enjoying a stay in the beautiful biophilic community of Serenbe, home to Bamboo. Serenbe is a neighborhood focused on wellbeing, full of fresh food and fresh air. This community is set among acres of preserved forests and meadows with miles of nature trails that connect homes and restaurants with arts and businesses.

There is something for everyone in this compact community which features a 25-acre organic farm in addition to shops, The Inn, and three farm to table restaurants named Halsa, The Hill, and The Farmhouse, all featuring locally sourced ingredients.

There’s a seasonal, weekly farmers market as well as the Art Farm at Serenbe, which features plays and performances as well as year-round cultural events that allow you to experience something different each time you visit. Your stay wouldn’t be fully complete without a horse trail riding picnic followed by a relaxing treatment at the Spa at Serenbe. And, of course, Bamboo juices every day!

During the stay, if you are lucky enough to have the opportunity, have a conversation with founder and CEO at Serenbe, Steve Nygren. His story of how he built Serenbe is fascinating and we’re so lucky to be a part of this truly unique, groundbreaking community.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to Garnie Nygren. Garnie is someone who truly believes in me and our products. When I first met her, I had no intention of it really working out. I brought her a bunch of juices, showed her my product, and felt thankful that we even got to connect. I thought, wow, Serenbe is just so impressive, and anyone would be lucky to have a business there. What a cool place! A few days later she called me and said, “I need those juices!” That was when Bamboo became a real business, and it wouldn’t be where it is today without her.
