We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelius Shannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelius, why did you pursue a creative career?
I honestly never saw myself pursuing an artistic career when I was young. I was always more into sports, games, and other things like that. As I got a little older I started to search a little for things that actually interested me. Of course I’ve always had a passion for sports, but when my parents bought me my first camera, I fell in love with it. I had other friends that took pictures at the time as well and seeing the things that they were creating sparked the beginning of my love for photography.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people who helped me and inspired my work throughout my career so far, but I would like to give a special shoutout to my mentor Drayton. In the little time that I have know him, I’ve learned so much knowledge about photography not only from the creative side, but from the business side as well.
