We had the good fortune of connecting with Keitrell Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keitrell, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel in life taking risks are very much needed. The risks I’ve taken have got me to where I am right now. Sometimes it can be scary when it comes to making a decision about your career. I’ve took chances of spending lots of money on my acting career. I’ve ran into a bunch of scams time after time. Since I was new to this industry and I didn’t know anybody to help me and show me the ropes I took risks myself and I took them losses. I now accept the fact that stuff like that has happened and I’ve learned a lot. It’s a scary journey when you’re trying to become successful in this industry all alone. But now that I have matured and got help with my music career, my brothers in our rap group called YBS ENT has helped me every step of the way. We went through so many producers, engineers and people we thought we could trust. We spent lots of money on studio time. But through it all we took them risks to make great things happen in our careers today.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is that I have been in the aerospace profession for over 10 years. While doing so I have had to make time for me to work on my acting gigs and my music gigs. I have sacrificed sleep to achieve these dreams. A lot of people have told me that I’m one of a kind because it’s rare for a person to have 3 jobs and still be 100% at all 3. I’m proud of myself because I can rely on me. I know what I’m capable of. I always set the bar high for myself. There is times I’m at the studio until 4am and I’ll have to clock into my aerospace job at 6am for a 10hr shift. Sometimes I’ll have a show and it won’t end until 3am and I’ll have to be at work at 5am. My circle of friends got me to where I’m at now. If it wasn’t for them I don’t know who would get my mindset right and push me to continue to do what I do. It’s definitely not easy to get to where I am currently and I’m not even close to my destination. But I’m no quitter I’ll continue to be great and motivate myself to keep going. I’ve also learned that if you have the right people in your circle you can make it. If you have somebody that always push you to do better you can make it. That’s all I have in my circle is motivation.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be completely honest I would take a friend on a fishing trip out of state somewhere. Most likely rent a cabin, get some drinks, set up a night fire and Forsure eat the fish we’ve caught plus any other food we bring. That’s my kinda way of showing a warm welcoming.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I would like to thank GOD. If it wasn’t for him none of this woulda occurred.
I would like to shoutout my friend/brother Taijuan Billingsley for signing me to his label, giving me the knowledge that I now know about this industry, and putting me in position to be able to get my music out so the people can hear my story.
