We had the good fortune of connecting with Keith Nedd bridgeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keith, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from Boston, Massachusetts. I’ve lived in Mattapan, Ashmont, & Roxbury to name a few areas. These were all mostly low income areas & the rough sides of Boston. Growing up i never really had role models i just knew at some point in my life i didn’t wanna live how i grew up. From getting kicked out our apartment & not having anywhere to live it was either i lived in the shelter home or with close friends. Of course i picked close friends, thankful for my friends that took me in and cared for me like i was apart of their family. This upbringing really shifted my mindset at an early age, i started making my own money at 13 yrs old and from there it didn’t stop. Making sure i was able to support myself and my younger sister i would buy her clothes for school and always made sure she didn’t need anything. Working since the age of 13 and having 2 jobs at once at one point i always knew that in order to be ahead of myself and not get into a space where we once were i knew i had to keep working. I still have that mindset to this day, but this has also taught me to appreciate & value what you have.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from everyone else is my genuine love for dance and the way i interpret music through my movement. Honestly don’t know how I’ve gotten to where i am today, i think mostly my determination & believing in myself more and more as i grew older. It wasn’t easy at all, you have to sacrifice a lot one of the biggest sacrifices i had to deal with & still am dealing with is being away from my family for long periods of time. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned and was able to apply to life in general was to always be proactive! What i want the world to know is don’t take this life to serious, enjoy every moment while you can and never stop learning.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my bestfriend to the beach first things first! Get some of that good ole vitamin D. We’d go to one of my favorite sushi restaurants & go get some drinks and hit a nice rooftop to catch the sunset! I love to skate, so we will have to hit up skate express in Chino,CA. Hikes in the morning and maybe a karaoke or open mic spot to hear some beautiful voices and live music. We love to shop and just be outdoors so the only place to be on Sunday’s is Melrose trading post!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Daryl foster! I want to shout him out because without him i wouldn’t be where i am today! He gave me my first scholarship to a dance studio in ATL which granted me free dance classes for over a year!
