Meet Keisha Boyd McDuffie | Creative and Publisher of Conyers Living Magazine

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keisha Boyd McDuffie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always loved the spaces that promote creativity, expression and independence. The beautiful thing about Entrepreneurship, is that one can have the freedom of self expression; while building an empire on your own terms. Trust and Faith are the strong foundation that will build a solid business. One has to have a good road map, plan and discipline to work for themselves. Self motivation is the key to keeping on going when things don’t quite work out they way one plans. I love the confidence and autonomy that comes with being a brand for my own business. I always want to move at my own pace. I am truly a free spirit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been an arts educator for over 25 years. As a creative and an educator I have been blessed to teach youth, school age students K-12, and Collegiate students. The journey has been easy for me because art and teaching is my core passion. I majored in drawing and painting and my gift always made a way for me. Art has always been so interesting and therapeutic. I have been able to use my gift as a tool to escape difficult times. During Covid I began making BANYA BOARDS they were customized wood pieces that adorned bath tubs. It became a lucrative business for me. I have learned to always go back to creativity when in a stressful moment or time in my life. As now Publishee of Conyers Living Magazine, I am able to connect wonderful businesses in the community to the masses. I can use my creativity to develop a quality magazine sponsors and readers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is a mecca for wonderful experiences!
I would host my guests in my home of course! There is no cozier place to be, but if he/she insisted on a hotel-I love The Candler Atlanta Hilton Hotel on Peachtree. I love their majestic stairwell and the beautiful chandeliers. Of course we could do drinks and dinner at their in-house restaurant, By GEORGE. I would host them with an option of fun events like a Braves Game at The Battery for the Summer round up. I absolutely love to have cocktails on one of Atlanta’s spectacular rooftops such as, Overstory Rooftop Bar and Grana a more mellow space in the Morningside community. There is always a concert, event or festival going on in Atlanta whether it’s at The State Farm Arena, Piedmont Park, or Central Park in Atlanta. There is always great shopping and fun at Ponce City Market, Lenox Mall, Phipps Plaza or Atlantic Station. One is sure to find their sweet spot in our City!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My SHOUT OUT goes to Laura Hall Reidinger Publisher of Neighbors of Oconee and Oconee Living Magazine. We both are community connectors for Best Version Media Magazine.
