Meet Keecia Pittman | Creative, Spiritual

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keecia Pittman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keecia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business started when I was a little girl, between the ages of 8-10, and I learned the definition of the word entrepreneur. I chose it then. I remember feeling, several times throughout my life, that I did not want to spend many years of my life working for someone else to achieve their dream.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ever since I was a little girl, I have had a deep-seated love for two things: being with kids and cooking. As a young teen, I had kids with me all the time, taking them places and teaching them things. I even wanted to be a teacher at one time. As a very young girl, I remember being in the kitchen with my mom and my Grandma, and I was probably more in the way than helping, but they never told me to get out of the kitchen. Instead, they gave me little things to do, and would answer all of my questions. My mom taught me how to cook, but the baking came from my Grandma, and it was always from scratch. To make a long story short, I did complete Culinary School, and I am a self-taught cake decorator. I created 3D cakes. Though I absolutely loved it, I no longer create cakes.
My reason for putting my whisk away for good is that I decided to delve deeper within and explore the little tea-light flame that had been burning for years in the center of my chest. I knew it was my vision. I knew it was my entrepreneurial journey. I asked God to either extinguish it 100% or let me pursue it 100%. The flame did not go away, and that was the game changer for me. I began to pay attention to the messages that came to me, and I paid attention to the things I heard and saw. I no longer brushed things to the side, thinking I was going crazy. Not only did I go after it, but I did it with a vengeance, and said I am not going to quit. I want to see what happens and where it takes me. But most important of all is that I wanted my Kenji and my Anandi to see that it does not matter what age you are, go get it. And I wanted to be their proof!
On Saturday, January 28, 2023, I spoke my business into existence. My son and I were walking in the Lil Mulberry Park, and I shared something profound with him that I had never said before. I told him that by June of this year, I will have my business up and running, and my product will be ready. The words just came out, and I was not aware until after I heard myself say it. I could not retract it and was instantly nervous in that moment because I thought, “What if I can’t get it done at that time?” That thought was soon crushed by “I’m going to kill it, so don’t worry about it.”
My company is Spiritual Elixir, LLC, and we know that transformation starts with truth and clarity. We are a company dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness through intentional self-expression, self-reflection, and introspection. We achieve this by creating 20-second inspirational video cards and inspirational bookmarks. Each product includes soul-nourishing messages that inspire individuals to pursue their goals and aspirations, though they are afraid, and do it with confidence. Spiritual Elixir, the brand, is here to remind you to tap into the power within because it is real. Believe In, and Bet On You! Be ready to put in the work! You have to trust the “More Powerful You” that shows up to guide you when you don’t know what to do. That is the you that is not afraid and is ready to keep moving forward with absolute clarity. (Check out my Inspirational Video Cards “A More Powerful You” & “Ascension” for they speak on internal power)
Though Spiritual Elixir is the name of my company, I have also coined it as a term to define a way of life. “The definition of Spiritual Elixir is: That solitary act of being or doing that allows one to re-connect with their inner self, causing authentic inner peace.” It is important to identify and engage in YOUR Spiritual Elixir. It can be anything from walking, skating, working on cars, reading, cooking, doing comedy, swimming, etc. You MUST do that thing that brings you joy, and it’s okay to have more than one. (Check out my Inspirational Bookmark titled “Spiritual Elixir.”)
This journey is not easy by any means. That is why it is so important to remember why you started and to have a support system. I have also learned that you must work in silence. Everyone does not need to know what you are doing. Let your work speak for itself. This limits the naysayers and all those who bring doubt. I did, and still do, remind myself that I was not born to fit in. I remind myself that there is a reason I was given my vision, and it is up to me to either do something about it or let it go. I have chosen to do something about it, and I have not stopped since choosing it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week-long stay with me, we are definitely going to hit the parks every day, and I am going to have my camera and tripod with me. I love walking in and aligning with nature, and capturing pictures and videos as I go. I love going to waterfalls. My most recent trip was in June, and I took my daughter to Toccoa Falls. I had been before, but it’s so beautiful that I did not mind going back. I love outdoor green spaces, like the newly renovated Suwanee Town Center. I take my Bluetooth speaker and I am enjoying my music and the scenery. I love games too. Grab the frisbee, sit down to a fun board or card game. When my kids were growing up, we had Family Game Night every Friday, and we all loved and looked forward to it. It’s also nice to sit down to dinner with my girlfriends ~ it’s 6 of us ~ because we laugh and have a good time. Though on rare occasions I eat fish ~ which makes me a pescatarian ~ I am a vegetarian, and I don’t drink.
Thank you, Mike Bhand, ShoutOut Atl. and the entire team!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A book that helped me tap into who I am is “The Artist’s Way ~ A Spiritual Path to Creativity” by Julie Cameron. I first purchased it in NY in 2008. I started it, then put it down and did not pick it up again until 2016. It was on my second go-round with it that I completed the 12-week course and felt a deeper connection within myself.
I had to write what is called “Morning Pages,” and it is freewriting all that I was thinking about. I soon came to call it either my Morning Pages or my Brain Drain. My Morning Pages became my therapist. I got to drain my brain for as long as I needed, and I didn’t think about “my time is almost up, let me hurry up and get out everything I want to say to her/him (a therapist). I didn’t have to worry about paying for anything because sitting at my computer investing positive energy and time in me is FREE! Replenishing my soul is FREE. Setting all the things swirling around in my mind free is FREE. Since starting my Morning Pages, I feel lighter. I still write my feelings today. (Some call it journaling.)
I am also standing on the shoulders of my support team, and they are a major part of my entrepreneurial journey: Clyde & Evelyn Coburn (Grandparents), Anandi Robinson (My daughter), Kenji Robinson (My son) (Evelyn Pittman-Johnson (Mom), Angelene Worsley (Aunt), Ted Pittman (Father), Myron Worsley (Cousin), Wil Nimmons & Darius Pittman (My Brothers), Shaqua Durant (Niece), All of my SCORE Mentors, especially Chloe Clark, Salah Harrell (Attorney), Kendall Wyman of Art + Logic, and, The Gwinnett Entrepreneur Center.
