We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylin Moss and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaylin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I attribute my success in modeling to my confidence. I accept all my imperfections, resulting in an unwavering inner strength. I have received many no’s throughout my career, and I expect to receive many more. I turn criticism into learning experiences instead of letting external judgements deter me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Modeling has always been a dream of mine. In 2021, I turned that dream into a reality by becoming a fashion and hair model. My college classes were online due to the pandemic, and I had more leisure time to focus on my modeling. On the surface, my gapped teeth smile and afro make me stand out from others. What truly sets me apart from other models are the relationships I build with brands. I’m proud to partner with brands who share my values of inclusivity and sustainability.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to show them around my hometown, Charleston South Carolina. Our activities would include visiting the sunflower field at Boone Hall Plantation, kayaking in Shem Creek, and sunbathing at Sullivan’s Island. We would dine at East Cooper Disco, The Sweet Shop, Ye Ole Fashioned, and Poe’s Tavern, some of my favorite restaurants. These are just some of Charleston’s locally owned hidden gems.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am grateful to all the photographers, make up artists, and fellow creatives who have assisted me in my journey. Many of them have helped me build my network and portfolio. I am especially grateful to Grace Taylor who has encouraged me throughout my career. Grace was the first photographer I worked with, and I also supported her as she began her photography career.
