We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylah Spencer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaylah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel taking risks is a rewarding act no matter the outcome… I’m fact I believe the outcome will always be a learning experience whether or not you benefit from it. I’d rather gain knowledge from taking a risk than to not take it at all.
Taking risks in my past have led to nothing but success and I feel like taking action is what’s most important. When you think too deeply about things, you confuse yourself as well as put negative energy into your idea. I feel like just acting on it & putting towards an effort is where it all starts.

What should our readers know about your business?
I began doing lash extensions as a side hustle as a sophomore in college while pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations at Clark Atlanta University. Once I saw how much money it was bringing in and how my clientele grew rapidly, I began taking it more serious and my brand became my first baby! Fortunately & unfortunately all good things come to an end, and Right now, I’m at the point in my business where I’m am transitioning from behind the chair as a service provider and creating multiple streams of passive income for myself. Lash extensions has been my sole source of income for the past 6, going on 7 years and I am now working towards building up my brand Sybaritic SpiKe, which will be a chain of salons and spas in the future. Currently, I am a supplier of all lash supply essentials, providing the needs for all lash artists at all levels and I will soon open a few lash supply stores in the near future. Some lessons I’ve learned over the years is to never treat your business like a side hustle bc putting all effort in will only help you grow faster. Also take yourself and your business’s policies very serious, be stern yet still friendly, so clients will never try to disrespect how your business is ran. I want the world to know Sybaritic SpiKe is the epitome of indulging in self care and that we are a brand that did all we need to to provide top tier luxurious services/experiences.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest, I’m a very spontaneous person, so I would go off of how my bestie & I are feeling on that day, and I’m also a sucker for trying NEW things. So it’ll most likely be something I’ve never experienced before. I do enjoy being outdoors, having brunch, or attending concerts/festivals.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give credit to my family for always holding me accountable and giving me great advice.
