We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, can you talk us a bit about why you love what you do?
I feel like this answer can not be answered with just one reason or one detail. Why do I love making people feel great about themselves and the way they look? Simply because it changes everything. When a person feels good about the way they look, their ora just glows. The first glance at their new hair and it’s always a special moment when you see the excitement all over them! That has to be the best part!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The day I decided to open my studio, was the best day ever! I was absolutely terrified to step out on my own after only having my license for right at a year. No one told me what all came along with it. I brought in my best friend with me who had just finished cosmetology school, and we loved it every single day! Since then, we have expanded twice, and now there are four of us! We are all such strong willed artist, that really chase after all the things we want to learn more about. We’re all very dedicated and determined to be the best. I’ve taken away so many important lessons from opening a business. One in which, treat your team as you would want to be treated. I do that, we are all family!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a question I get so often and I love it! For me, a good night out could entail so many different things. Depending on the mood that you’re wanting to go with. If I had to say my favorite place to go and eat would be the optimist. I’m all in at anytime for a good craft cocktail and seafood. If it was during the day and we just wanted to hangout, you could go and walk around piedmont park. The park is huge and usually there’s always something going on inside. There’s a Ferris wheel downtown, with a lot of fun places to grab a drink, or snack right nearby. For nighttime, if you’re into going out for a fun night, I would always suggest going to Virginia highlands, or somewhere in midtown! The crowds are always fun and it’s a guaranteed good time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a hard one to choose just one, but in all, I would have to give my biggest recognition to my clients. All of my girls that come to see me, back me and encourage me like no one else. They trust in any and everything that I do & to me there’s no better feeling than trust. All of my clients are beautiful inside and out and most are always challenging me in so many ways. Not to mention, all of their hair pics are flawless because they listen to my instruction about care and maintenance, so I truthfully owe it to them!
