We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my boutique July 2019 with the vision of wanting to make God’s Gyrl & Guy apparel a favorite place to shop for inspiration. I’ve always used my social media platform to speed inspiration and motivation. The idea came to me as I was thinking about what next business I wanted to start. After research and classes I knew this was the avenue meant for me to follow. Here we are 2 years later, a faith based boutique where believers can be a walking billboard of Fatih! With so many negative things going on in the world reminding everyone who Loves them and spreading love & light! It makes my heart smile to have customers shopping nationwide.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I’m most proud of empowering women, men and children though christian apparel. To be a walking billboard of faith. To share Inspiration + the Word of God! My Brand displays Faith, Spirituality and Inspiration. In the beginning I would say some struggles were finding the right suppliers and right graphic designer that would get designs back in a timely manner and to truly understand my vision. I had to learn right ways to market through coaches and classes because apparel wasn’t moving fast in the beginning. Another hard lesson learned was to stay motivated even when family or friends didn’t support to know that my purpose was bigger than inner circle. I’ve reached customers all across the United States now. Reaching so many people around the world is what fulfills me the most.

My Brand is bigger than me, it’s been created to develop a sisterhood and brotherhood through Christian apparel.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite Restaurants are Pappadeaux’s, Houstons, Louisiana Bistreaux, American Cut. Hanging out at Ponce City Market, The Garden Room, Rocky Steady Caribbean vibe and lounge upstairs. . I love being at Piedmont Park , Battery is a great spot for the weekend. Cascade Skating Rink , Starlight Drive in theater are great for date nights.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a huge Shoutout to my parents who first taught me about God & Christian Faith. Forever Grateful to them for that. My husband, who supports everything I put my efforts into. I have an awesome sisterhood who are always supporting & encouraging as well.
