Meet Kayla Hodges | Serial Entrepreneur & Risk Taker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Hodges and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to be consistent or you might as well quit. You can do so much preparation, and go through so many feelings emotions even over thinking, but your business isn’t going to prosper if your not consistent.

What should our readers know about your business?
Back in 2016 I started my very first business called KayoticK. KayoticK is a twisted fashion clothing company for a daring community. We offer multiple styles of clothing marketed towards ravers, dancers, Kawaii lovers, and rock stars. I am most proud about being able to travel to different Electronic Dance Music Festivals (EDM) across the United States providing a vibe and fashionable clothes to thousands of people. I love connecting with wonderful people who love nothing but good vibes. Every time festival season comes around, I get super stressed, because it takes a lot to get there, but it is so rewarding once my booth is set up. In May of 2021, I decided to leave my corporate job and grow my business. It took a lot of praying, fasting, crying, saving, and planning to get to that point. I knew it was something that had to be done, because I was not happy with working for someone else for the rest of my life. I knew God had another plan for me. When I left my job, I knew I had to have a consistent income because I have a son to take care of. I started another company called Keep It Tidy Cleaners which services Atlanta Airbnb’s, turnkey properties, and commercial buildings. I also started getting floor installing contracts for KAKAKI Construction which is another business that I own. None of this stuff was easy at all, but I wake up every day and choose to keep pushing forward. There are some days where I have zero dollars in my account and a couple of hours or a day or two, I have a couple thousand. I built myself up for this lifestyle.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Knowing my best friend, she wants to smoke hookah somewhere and look cute. I would start us off with bruch, because I feel that Atlanta is the capital of bruch! I recently went to a Brunch spot called Another Broken Egg. Loved it! The food and drinks were delicious. If its a Sunday, I would stop off at Rum Punch Brunch for some real good vibes and music. I would probably end there, because I get tired quick now lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God puts people in your life for reasons and seasons. I would like to give thanks to my family, bestfriends, boyfriend, and my son. They keep me going everyday. They are always there putting in work, listening, pushing me, and most of all keeping me motivated. I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without them by my side. There was plenty of moments where I felt like throwing in the towel, but they wouldn’t let me. Told me to wipe my tears and keep it pushing. They are truly a blessing.
