We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Bradford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my business I was thinking about how I could do something in my spare time to make money. As I progressed in my business I realized there is so much that goes into running a business that I wasn’t aware of. Continuing in my journey of entrepreneurship I focus on the passion I have for graphic design and marketing more than I focus on the money. I enjoy studying marketing and I love to be creative. I started my business on my phone with just a thought and ambition. Now I design for many entrepreneurs and help them thrive in the same thoughts and ambitions that I had. It is so rewarding! I’m so glad I took the first step!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a full time healthcare worker as well as a full time creative. I have experienced several challenges along the way within my creative journey. I’ve completed school, gotten married, started a new job, started another new job, bought a house, and so much more while running my business as a creative. It has been a challenge but nothing worth having is easy and that is what I have told myself over the years to help me press forward. I have made so many mistakes that I have not allowed to discourage me into quitting. I am truly passionate about graphic design, marketing, and branding, therefore knowing that there are so many people whose journey I can be apart of is encouraging enough to keep going. I want people to know that I am in this industry to listen, prioritize. and maximize! I listen to my clients visions and dreams, I prioritize their desires and help them fit into their niche as professionally as possible, and I maximize their businesses and goals and make them more attainable.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a go with the flow type of person! I love to find things to do that flow with the present day. So I would wake up each morning and see what the weather was like, how we felt, what we had a taste for. I would see how we slept and decide what would make us most comfortable and happy for the day. I love leisure activities so I would love to go to outdoor events, places with live music, and of course enjoy all the good food. Picnics, skating, painting, bowling, and other activities that get you moving and are casual fun is the cup of tea I love to sip from the most.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my sister! She has always encouraged me to follow my dreams when it came to my business. When I first started I was designing for her lipstick business. She trusted me to do her graphics and although they were not my best work she still posted them and let me continue! It was the start of something great! She later wrote a book and I designed the cover! Her ambition drove my ambition and I am forever grateful for her encouragement, her faith, and her discipline! She never lets me give up and she always pushes me to be the best I can be.
