We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kay, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I took a great look at all of the challenges that I faced as an individual with autoimmune diseases and how I could live life with more vitality. During a very difficult season of health trials, I had a conversation with my husband, one of my physicians and a pharmacist and that’s when the light bulb went off to launch my business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I co-own a skincare product line with my husband called Win Beautifully. This business was birthed out of many physical trials that I was able to triumph by not only changing my food diet, but my skin nutrition as well. Everyone has their own unique niche in life that sets them apart from others, mine happens to be identifying when someone feels broken. I know that may sound a bit strange, so let me explain what I mean by that. Every since I was a little girl, I had this sense about me that would allow me to identify with other people’s pain. My childhood was very tumultuous and there we many days that I felt worthless and no longer wanted to exist because of the environment that I grew up in. I wasn’t raised in a two family household and didn’t hear many if any words of affirmation, confirmation or validation. I was teased and bullied about everything including my appearance and physical features. So when I met my husband I didn’t know how to receive a compliment. Fast forward to my adult years, my health began to fail and I really hit my lowest of lows.

I had no clue what was happening to my body and my skin. I felt so ugly and broken. I had my first stroke at 32 and my life changed drastically and I knew some changes needed to be made. I actually started making products to help with my healing process and treated what I was doing as a hobby. I began to give away those products as gifts to those that helped give me in my healing journey, whether it was a friend, nurse, church member or a physician that was a part of my care team. I would look at what products I created and matched them with what their need was. Still I didn’t understand the magnitude of what I had until one of my physicians asked me in an office visit how many other products did I create and how many did I have in stock. She then said, come back at the end of the day and do a pop-up shop for my staff and I with whatever you have. I left that day with almost $500 in sales. I was blown away. It just so happens that I had a product that met their needs. I kept going forward from then on. I started my business with $250 and dollar tree travel bottles. No it was not easy but it was worth it.

That day taught me something about my obedience and faith. I spent the entire week before that visit making products day and night and had no clue how they would get sold, but I obeyed the Lord’s voice when he had me up working while the rest of my house was sleeping. I understood why my husband would call me BEAUTIFUL on the days when I felt so ugly. He would say baby you’re as beautiful as you feel on the inside. You have to see it with God’s eyes and not your physical appearance. Everyday that I wear our products I feel the love as I’m applying it to my skin. And many of my clients men and women said that it’s a certain way they feel when they use them. Not only are they great skin nutrition but it charges them mentally.

The lessons that I’ve learned along the way is, there is always a price attached to your brand and that price is sacrifice. So I can’t afford to give everything away for free because of the sacrifice I had to pay along this journey to success. With each passing day there is always room for improvements and new discoveries. I will always consider the needs of my clients when formulating every new or existing product.

What I want the world to know is that someone who once lost everything at one point in her life and felt like she didn’t have a sense of purpose, is now a part of the rebuilding process for men and women who hit their all time low. We win some battles and some we will lose. You may have fallen down on today, however if you wake up on tomorrow you still have purpose and destiny. You’re still in the running to become the next BEST YOU! W.I.N. Beautifully simply means to Walk In Newness and to do it with beauty, grace and humility.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t get to see my best friend that often because we aren’t in the same state. We are both married so this would definitely be a couples trip. I would secure a rental property with the best amenities, stock the refrigerator with their favorite foods, hire a private chef, bring in a few massage therapists and nail technicians. The home would have a fitness center, indoor/outdoor pool, arcade and a movie theater. We would have so much to catch up on we’d more than likely just relax, swim and hang out.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
