We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Collett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The beauty industry is really fascinating and flexible.
I don’t think the general public realizes how much of yourself and your family time that you sacrifice. They don’t realize that when you work a Saturday or Sunday that you’ve already worked for 7 days and are desperate for a day off but you don’t want anyone disappointed. The cost of the hair industry is crazy too. All of my clients are caring, understanding and wonderful people. We have grown together and a lot of people don’t realize how close you and your clients become. You watch each other’s families evolve, kids grow, and are there for each other when someone passes away. It’s an amazing thing and clients aren’t just a number, they are family!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I absolutely love to go to the riverstone bistro in canton when my friends and family visit. I also enjoy getting drinks at the barrel house coffee shop in ball ground and the best pedicures at Britney nails. While there isn’t much excitement in our little mountain town, there is some nice shopping and a few nice restaurants. If you’re able to get out, Amicalola falls is gorgeous and not too far away!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Linda Piper. She’s always been there for me, and taught me things I didn’t learn in school. She has always believed in me. Without her encouragement, I wouldn’t have had the courage to start my own business.
