We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Boff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, how does your business help the community?
I like to think of my business (my content creation) as a means of sharing my life with a community of people. Being that my life mission is to know Jesus and make Him known, part of that means sharing my everyday life with people. In sharing my day to day, whether it be my opinions, my activities, my routine, my habits or my quirks, I believe that sharing this with a body of people is necessary for truly displaying the goodness of Jesus. It allows people to see me in my most vulnerable of states, and it provides a means to be honest about my life. My business is a part of my “ministry.” This allows people to see what’s so great about giving your life to the Lord, which is absolutely necessary for people to be rescued from their own destructive habits. Seeing the goodness of the Lord is how people truly become free, and that is what I am here to lead people to.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
If I could tell you a bit about my story, I always was a driven kid. I always relied on my work ethic to get me where I wanted to go. Whether it be school and grades or cheerleading and competitions, I was a performer. Eventually, I went into college thinking I knew Jesus, but I didn’t truly understand who He is or the weight of my sin. My sophomore year, I lived with Christian roommates who were serious about following Jesus, something I couldn’t comprehend. Like I said, my identity was rooted in achievement and self-reliance. The thought of Jesus being my “all” was foreign.

Going to church with them opened my eyes to my sin and my inability to meet God’s standard. It was a disturbing realization; I couldn’t “achieve” my way to salvation the way I had achieved everything prior. Eventually, I met with my assistant coach, Ashley Reynolds, who shared the Good News with me. My world flipped upside down: Jesus had already paid the price for my sin, and salvation was a gift… not something I could earn. That day, I experienced deep relief. My life no longer had to be about proving myself; it became about knowing and loving Him more and more.

Jesus became my treasure. In every area of life, including professional development and leadership, I began to serve others out of the love He first gave me. My junior and senior years of college, I was voted co-captain of UGA Cheerleading. I vividly remember Coach Ashley telling us three captains, “This is a position of service.” Where I had wanted honor, I quickly learned that this role was not about me; it was a greater opportunity to serve.

I led with compassion and that same attitude is what drives any of my professional work. My mission now is to reflect Christ’s love, serving fully, relieving burdens and building relationships.

Let me be very clear, I am no less of a sinner now than before. However, now I have been justified by the perfect sacrifice of Jesus, and the weight that has been lifted off of me is like no other. I literally cannot not tell people about it. What sets me apart as an employee, a content creator, a staff member, a teammate and a peer is that my mission is to spend myself in the event that my sacrifice can show people the love that Jesus has for them, for people to ask questions and wonder why being with Him is so awesome. Let me be a living testimony.

While this all sounds great, it sure has been tough. Not because it isn’t better to live and work this way, but because it goes against my nature to produce any behavior that is like God. To go the extra mile in every task, to sacrifice my time for others, to not cut corners, to be kind at all times (in all circumstances), to believe the best about people, all with the intention of receiving zero praise or recognition… man, that is difficult. However, doing these things, the same way Jesus would, is really the better way to live. He is the Lord, He has the instruction manual to the way to live this life, and choosing to trust that has been unnatural, but the most rewarding partnership of all time for me.

Trusting that Jesus is correct, that what He says is true and factual, has been the key to my success. Not success in the way you imagine it, though. My success is defined by who I am, not by what I do, and I am an adopted member of the Kingdom of God.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If someone were to visit Atlanta, my biased opinion would be to spend a weekend in Athens, Georgia (home of The Bulldogs). Athens has the best coffee (Walker’s Coffee and Pub), the best restaurants (Chuck’s Fish), and the best spirit.

For a full weekend itinerary, I’d first suggest that you come to Athens on a UGA football game weekend. Stay at the Hyatt Downtown and visit with folks up at the rooftop restaurant. Tailgate on campus, and wave as the cheerleaders ride in trucks down Lumpkin St. Go to the game and witness the greatest program in the country do its thing. The next day, grab breakfast at Mama’s Boy, where you’ll be greeted with a warm smile. Then, shop along Clayton St. Finish your trip with dinner just about anywhere, you can’t go wrong. Gosh, thinking about this trip makes me want to join you!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story would be incomplete without the mention of my three best friends/roommates. They have been my role models and big sisters through both my lowest and highest moments. These girls – Ashley, Balay and Lexie – taught me how to be a real friend through the way they have demonstrated the love of Christ. I truly hit the jackpot with them. If not for them, I would not have had any sort of curiosity about the Lord. For the way they love Jesus, I am so grateful.

Through all of life’s wrenches, these girls have sacrificed themselves for my good. They provide support like no other. If there’s one thing they know how to do… it’s show up. If y’all are reading this, THANK YOU!
