We had the good fortune of connecting with Kati Corzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kati, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been an artistic person. As a child, I loved to sing, dance, and play music. In middle school, I tried to write my own scripts because I loved horror movies like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. As I grew older, music became my artistic outlet, but when I had my first child, I switched gears towards photography. And 12 years later, I’ve been able to grow my business by helping people stop time through photographs.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I set out to be a boudoir photographer, I wanted women to feel beautiful and sexy in their own skin. What I didn’t realize was that that confidence was bubbling over into their personal lives. I’ve had women tell me that after their session, they had more confidence to seek better employment, leave abusive relationships, and finally wear the crop top they never dared to wear before! That has pushed me to keep going through all of the tough times. As with any business, there are ebbs and flows. I’ve had to deal with slow or non-existent bookings, upgrading my studio multiple times, and changing my processes through a pandemic. What I have learned is that I am a fighter; I’ve never worked so hard to build anything, but I’ve also never been as successful in any endeavors as this. I have learned that sacrifices must be made in order to build something worth doing. I am a wife, and mother of 3 children, and my time is extremely valuable. My photography business has allowed me to set my own hours to be able to enjoy more quality time with my loved ones.

I think one thing that sets me apart from the rest is that I work with all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and ages. No matter where you’re at in life, I’m prepared to pamper, empower, and make you feel gorgeous! My sessions include hair and make-up, a client closet, expert posing, and same day viewing. To top off the luxury experience, I offer top-of-the-line products to store and display the beautiful images we create. It’s something every woman should check off their bucket list!

I am currently running a beautiful campaign called the 40 Over 40 Experience where I am showcasing women in their 40s and above. This experience was created to show the world that beauty doesn’t diminish with age and to celebrate the changes that come with growing older. Empowering all women has been a personal goal of mine, but displaying this age range in my work will help shift society not to forget that women over 40 are still relevant.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love going to museums, parks, and other cool places where I can walk around. I love to check out the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, and the Fernbank Museum. You can definitely tell I’m a mom! The Atlanta Botanical garden is beautiful and we can definitely take a couple of days to explore and attend their events. Whenever I just want to shop and eat, I visit Westside Provisions District. I love the high-end feel and can always find something unique at one of the boutiques. Mexican food is my absolute favorite, so I always try to find a small restaurant or mercado to snatch up some carnitas or tamales. But when I want to sit down, I’ll visit Nuevo Laredo. The barbacoa is my fav! We can’t forgot to end the night at the Red Phone Booth. I don’t get to get out much at night, so I stick to my staples. But as clients tell me new places, I can trust their recommendations and find new spots.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my husband, Jacob. He has been my biggest supporter! He has sacrificed his personal time to help me with everything from cleaning my studio between sessions to running errands for me. He has worked extra hours to fund my education and marketing efforts. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support and encouragement!
