We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Chartier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katherine, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
By far, the most important lesson that I have learned as a realtor is that your mindset will determine your success. If you don’t believe in yourself, why would someone else?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career is a little bit of a winding path. I have a degree in Informatics from Indiana University Bloomington, and I began my career in technology consulting. After a handful of years, I wanted to make a change in my career. I joined a legal tech startup. Although my role was fluid, I was more or less doing the same thing that I had in all of my previous roles. All of the skills that I have picked up along the way are how I know my real estate business will be successful.

I have always taken the “safe” route or the path that I thought would make me most successful. It wasn’t until I started my real estate business that I realized the sky is the limit with a little bit of knowledge and a whole lot of determination. I have never been a risk taker, but I took a huge leap of faith leaving my 9-5 to build a real estate business.

It may seem random that I made such a drastic change in my career, but it all has to do with my kids. After I had my son, I took a 12-week maternity leave and then went right back to work. Fast forward two years, I was pregnant with my daughter, and I felt like it was finally time for me to own my life. After my maternity leave, I didn’t go back to work. I was a stay at home mom for a few months while I finished up my real estate license course. Now I am living my dream, and I am excited about going to work everyday.

There are a lot of great agents out there, and I strive to become one myself. The combination of my unique background and passion for real estate is what I feel like sets me apart.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would hit the tourist spots, Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca Cola and the Zoo. Then we would start hitting my favorite restaurants. I love trying new or small/local places. Some of our favorites are Lee’s Bakery, Los Rios, Marie’s Deli and Bakery, Village Italian, and Gu’s Dumplings. I love going for walks on the Big Creek Greenway. There are too many great trailheads to name! Another favorite spot is the Cumming City Center. They always have great events!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband is my biggest cheerleader. I took a huge leap of faith when I started my business, and it will impact our family. He was willing to let me take that leap anyways.
