We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Burkhardt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katherine, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by the interaction between life and nature. Life in itself is so endlessly inspiring. The intricate dance between life and nature, with its ever-changing rhythm, never fails to captivate me. It’s in the delicate balance of ecosystems, the resilience of living organisms (us included), and the perpetual cycle of life, growth, death and renewal that I find an unending wellspring of inspiration. My dreams at night serve as a portal to a realm where creativity truly knows no bounds. The subconscious mind weaves stories, unveils hidden desires, and conjures fantastical landscapes. Exploring the landscapes of my dreams allows me to tap into a reservoir of creativity and insight that transcends the limitations of waking life.
Holotropic breathwork sessions add another dimension to my journey of inspiration. These sessions, characterized by deep and intentional breathing, open doors to altered states of consciousness. The profound experiences within these sessions serve as a gateway to self-discovery and inner exploration. The breath becomes a guide, leading me to realms of the mind that are both enlightening and transformative.
What truly fuels my inspiration, however, is the profound interconnection between individuals that breathwork facilitates. Through shared breath, we transcend the boundaries of individuality and tap into the collective energy of humanity. It’s within these shared moments that I witness the beauty of human connection—vulnerable, authentic, and deeply resonant.
In essence, my inspiration is a tapestry woven from the threads of life’s dynamics, the kaleidoscopic visions of my dreams, and the transformative power of collective breath. It’s a continuous journey of exploration, self-discovery, and connection that shapes my perspective and fuels my passion for growth and understanding.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Hello, I am Kat Burkhardt, owner of Kolorful Kat. I am so excited to tell you about my offerings. I am formally trained as a Transpersonal breathwork & SoulCollage® facilitator. The modaility of breathwork that I offer is directly from Stan Groff’s model of holotropic breathwork. For those unfamiliar with this kind of breathwork, it uses deep and rapid breathing, along with evocative music in a supportive environment, to induce altered states of consciousness that can lead to deep healing and personal growth. Breathwork was the most important catalyst for massive life transformations for me. I was able to transmute years of trauma and past experiences within just a few sessions. The level of insight it continues to bring into my life has been priceless and the friends I’ve made within the community are my closest to date. I am equally as excited about my SoulCollage® offering. I was introduced to SoulCollage® over a year ago and have been in love with it ever since. SoulCollage® is a creative and intuitive process that involves creating a deck of collaged cards, each representing a different aspect of the self, such as strengths, challenges, and aspirations. It’s a way of connecting with your inner wisdom for greater understanding and guidance.
Growing a business takes time and continuous commitment. Once I discovered the transformative power of breathwork and SoulCollage®, I realized that I had a profound calling to become its advocate, especially in regions where its benefits are sorely needed. Located in Northern Georgia, I have embraced this calling wholeheartedly. My vision extends beyond mere entrepreneurship; it’s about cultivating a vibrant community of like-minded individuals passionate about personal development, healing, and fostering genuine connections with one another.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is a bit of a trek for me since I live in Canton. However, when I am in town, I always make it a point to visit the Atlanta Aquarium to admire all the sea creatures. A day spent in nature at the Chattahoochee Nature Center during their butterfly season is truly magical and whimsical. Additionally, the Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore in Sandy Springs is my go-to for all things metaphysical. It’s also a lovely place to simply wander around and perhaps spot one of their resident cats.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Terra Bundance is one of my greatest cheerleaders and supporters. We’ve known each other for many years and have shared countless experiences, making her part of my soul family. Her genuine care for people and the environment, and her commitment to creating a better world for us and future generations, is truly inspiring. I’ll always be grateful and honored to have her walking alongside me in this journey called life.
