We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Ashley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katherine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business started with the fact that I love clothes. I was in retail for the most of my 20’s and learned a lot of behind the scenes action that takes place in a retail store. I wanted to have a place that was for your conservative woman who is a little edgy when it comes to her style.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The “Katherine Ashley” store is a place where chic meets edgy. We pride in giving the best customer service and providing the most unique pieces of clothing that have solid quality. When we don’t get it right, we do everything in our power to make sure there is satisfaction guaranteed.

It took a lot of mistakes throughout the process of opening a boutique because all of the answers weren’t handed to me. I had to go and research everything. We live in a society where people don’t like to share what made them successful. So, I made a vow that everything I know I will pass on the information to whomever is looking for it. There is enough money out there for us all to win.

Throughout this process I have learned to be patient and consistent. Big results don’t happen overnight. You just have to keep pushing, digging, working, and showing up. There is someone out there who sees you and it may put a spark in their hands to get to work.

I want the world to know that “Katherine Ashley” is here to stay and promises to bring you more “show stopping” collections. We have a couple of collections we are working on that are really fashion forward and I believe you all will love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Atlanta, GA there is so much to do. Whatever you’re into, we have that. My favorite spot to go to is “Ponce City Market”. It’s a place where you can shop and eat. At the top they have an area where you can play games, mini golf, and much more. They also have an ice skating rink in the winter time. It’s really fun. I’m more of a fun girl so this works for me.

There’s a lot of history in the city to see. From the Martin Luther King home to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. There’s so much to see in Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate a shoutout to my mom. She is the true FASHIONISTA! The saying is, “I get it from my momma!” Lol. I owe everything to her. She has instilled so much wisdom into me over the years. She has always put emphasis’ on becoming the best version of myself. She has taught me to be consistent and pray about EVERYTHING! When she notices that I’m not putting in enough effort, she will literally call me and say, “Alright! Get back on track.” She is a true cheerleader.
