We had the good fortune of connecting with KaTesha Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KaTesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process for starting my own business started as a child. The first entrepreneurs I knew were my Mom and Dad. My mother was a seamstress and aspiring fashion designer. She would be behind her sewing machine through the night and early morning making coats, suits and dresses for women who paid her to make them. I recall as a kid helping her cut out a pattern or string a needle. My father had a landscaping business. I remember him loading his lawn mower on his truck with his gloves in his back pocket.  Once he took my brother and I to a landscaping job in which he laid out a beautiful assortment of flowers, trees and scrubs. I enjoyed watching them both hone in their craft. They both opened other business throughout the years so naturally the “entrepreneur seed” was planted.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Cozy Clean Laundry is a garment care and laundry facility that offers self service laundry, drop off wash and fold services and laundry pickup and delivery services to residential and commercial customers in the Metro Atlanta Areas. We are located in Decatur, Georgia. What sets us apart from our laundry pickup and delivery competitors is that we do all the work in house versus farming it out. This allows us to maintain a standard of quality that you cannot get if you have random individuals or places doing the work. “Wash Less, Live More!”

Getting into the laundry industry was not easy.  My initial challenge was having no knowledge of the laundry industry. One of the first things I did was hire a laundry consultant who had 30 successful years in the laundry business. He taught me how to read and negotiate leases, purchase commercial equipment, find the right location, and set up a laundry business.

My newest business venture is Cozy Clean Linens, which is a linen and towel sales and rental service. This is a great option for businesses (such as AirBNB, hotels, spas, gyms, film industry, etc.) that want to save money from buying linens or towels.

Three lessons I have learned along the way is to (1) Celebrate and show gratitude for the little successes along the way. You, your family, your business, your customers and employees will be better for it. (2) Take time to invest in your personal and professional development. This is very hard for any business owner in the formative years of your business because you have no time. However, as you grow and scale your business you should get back more time. You have to be intentional and voluntary in carving out time to grow yourself which in turn will grow your business. (3) Faith & Family First. God is my refugee and my source of my strength. I am blessed to be married with three beautiful young children. It has not been easy, but my family is my “WHY”. So keep I keep my “WHY” in sight and I do not mean this only literally.

What I want the world to know about me is that I truly believe that all things are possible. Do not be afraid to Dream Big. There is no age requirement or “ideal situation to be in” to dream and then make it happen. Remove those self imposed boundaries and limits from your mind and spirit by telling yourself daily what you want to be and where you want to be. Visualize yourself there and then write down everything you need to do to get there….then DO IT!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting town,  there are several places to go. We could go to Ponce City Market to shop, eat and then venture up to the rooftop to enjoy a view of the city. Virginia Highlands has several nice places such as a Murphy’s, Sea Salt, or Fontaine’s to eat for brunch, lunch or early dinner.  City Winery is a concert venue that always has a great lineup of performers. Eclipse de Luna in Buckhead is good place for tapas, drinks and live Latin music with dancing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my family and village. Shout out to the Cozy Clean Team. Shout out to 5FH. Shout out to She Speaks Vision.  A Special shout out to my husband and my children.
