Meet Karli Michelle | Publishing Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karli Michelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karli, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I decided to start my publishing coaching business, I leaned heavily on my experience as a publisher and the gaps that I saw in the market. So many writers had incredible manuscripts but were struggling to navigate the publishing and publicity side of things. For me, it was an opportunity to stand in that gap, alongside writers, while building something of my own that could make a lasting impact.

What should our readers know about your business?
I teach writers, new and experienced, how to publish and sell their books by teaching out-of-the-box marketing, understanding of small business structure, and the importance of brand recognition. My goal is for each writer to walk away with the confidence to believe their work belongs in the world. Instead of just offering information, I walk alongside writers as a coach and partner in their journey. I understand how competitive this field is and how easy it is to get overwhelmed in such a saturated market.
One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that success doesn’t come from shortcuts but persistence, adaptability, and keeping your eyes focused on the heart of what matters to you. My role is to help writers build book businesses, even when it feels impossible. Watching someone go from uncertainty to holding their finished book and seeing sales coming in is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think the Atlanta area is such an inspiring place for creatives. Grab a friend and catch a show, find a hidden-gem bookshop, a local coffee shop, explore an art gallery. There are so many opportunities to support local artists and small businesses that spark new ideas and fuel creativity.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my journey, I have been surrounded by incredible people who believed in me. I have been involved in starting and overseeing several writers’ groups whose members poured their time and energies into helping make those groups a success. I am also deeply grateful to the authors who came alongside my efforts as a publisher and trusted me with their written work. Each of those experiences taught me so much and gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward.
