We had the good fortune of connecting with Karen Montgomery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karen, what do you want your legacy to be?
When I think of my legacy I think about the impact I will have on future generations of my family and the difference I can make in the lives of my friends, co workers and other friends I will meet along my journey.  For my family, I want to continue the entreprenuerial spirt started by both set of grandparents who started their own businesses and leveraged their resources to provide better living, educational opportunities and positive life experiences for their children, grandchildren and employees.  To my friends both old and new, I want to leave the feeling of excitement and possibility in manifesting their heart’s desires.  I want to be known for bridging the gap to dreams actually coming true instead of wishing and hoping they come true.

What should our readers know about your business?
Masterly Mutual Insurance Services provides insight into understanding life insurance, health insurance and medicare better so prospects feel confident and at ease when considering a decision to purchase protection.  Our first focus is Life Insurance to millennials, young families and influencers because their loved ones would experience the most financial devastation should an unexpected death occur.  Experiencing the loss of three family entrepreneurs who passed away before their financial legacy was fully established, I often wonder what life would be like for my family today if a life insurance agent had helped them set the foundation for their dreams with a proper policy. Recognizing that life insurance is the foundation to continue dreams and propel generations forward, my mission since 2008 is to ensure that every person who wants to provide upward mobility for their family has the road map to arrive at ‘Destination Legacy’.  Starting as an agent is not easy, only 8% of new agents last over three years. You need resilience to move past lots of “No Thank You’s.”  My passion of knowing how families do benefit from owning a policy has helped me become successful and train others to become successful too. If you are ready to dispel some of the myths around life insurance, I can help you!!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to think of myself as an honorary foodie, drinkie and resident entertainment expert for visitors of all kinds!! I know the Saint Louis area very well and can recommend the best soul food (The Headliners) to delicious dining (Frazers Restaurant and Lounge)!!! Want to visit an urban neighborhood bar with weekend regulars (Hurns Cocktail Lounge) or do you desire a tasty craft cocktail shaken to perfection (Pagan Wine Bar)? Soar to new heights visiting the Gateway Arch, look out over the Mississippi River from Lacledes Landing or go for a spin at Union Station on the Ferris Wheel. Need some R&R privacy, visit Innsbrook (the mid-West Hamptons) which is just an hour west of city limits. Art, Jazz, History, Tradition; Saint Louis has it all.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shout out first and foremost goes to God for creating the paths that my journey has taken. I continue to listen for His whispers to direct my path. My mother and father for showing me the benefits of developing a work ethic. Not only does it create financial freedom but working also creates boundaries to help you stay focused on the tasks that lead to your dreams coming true.  Leading a church community group continues to remind me of how prayer and faith are the pillars to creating the legacy I envision.  Being an abolitionist with The Abolitionist Pledge has opened the door to lead and develop economic opportunities for entrepreneurs.  It is such a blessing to know that I am helping families create generational wealth and circulating community dollars at Tapentrepreneurs.com.  Virtual hugs to Janice Dru-Bennet and my sisters in The Entreprenista League who cheer me on, give me the resources, support and confidence I need to continue growing my business nationwide.  Lastly, the books Quantum Leap by Gloria Mayfield-Banks, The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone, Limitless by Jim Kwik and Your Next Five Moves by Patrick Bet-David continue to inspire my journey today.
