Meet Karen Douglas | Entertainment Manager & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karen Douglas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karen, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I feel like as long as you have that constant burning desire you should keep going for whatever it is you have set out to achieve. Especially if you’ve made progress along the way then I strongly believe in staying the course and trusting the process. People often feel if they haven’t made what feels like huge steps then it’s not enough, when in fact it’s still progress. Like with any business or dream there will come moments where you will feel discouraged but your passion will keep you going!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have worked in the entertainment industry professionally for 10+ years managing talent. What sets me apart from others is my energy and the way that I treat people. I’m firm and I take my business serious but I am still respectful and kind which I feel is not always so common in this arena. I pride myself on building solid relationships and connecting the dots, this is apart of the reason why I am still here and making things happen. It hasn’t been easy but when you are serving your purpose I believe one will always be blessed. Remember, there’s always room for improvement. Be teachable. The more you learn and know the more value you will add to any situation and that’s something that cannot be taken away from you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is filled with things to do and see! But first I love trying out new restaurants eating and listening to music! We would definitely have to go and eat at Toast they have the best brunch vibe in the city on any given day. Some other places to eat I love a good sushi or seafood spot so Eight Sushi and then there is the Coalition. Botanical Garden at Piedmont Park and Stone Mountain for something outdoor. Then we would have to add some black history for sure by visiting the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. Lastly, I love this little spot Whiskey Mistress they have a live band and play the best R&B all night the vibe in there is dope.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m inspired by many when it comes to this journey that I have been on but I’d have to say my parents are my biggest inspiration. Knowing their background first hand and the sacrifices they made to achieve some of the great things that they have has kept me motivated along the way. Throughout my journey I’m grateful to have had many people that have supported in different capacities, they all matter.
