Meet Kareem Lawrence | General Manager Extraordinaire; I will fix your club

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kareem Lawrence and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kareem, what principle do you value most?
Hard Work matter the most to you. At times in life you might not be the most talented, you might not have certain advantages or opportunities another person might but hard work will always shine through. Outwork them all. Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently the General Manager of Fin and Feathers in Atlanta, GA. I started in 2008 in Tallahassee, FL as a club promoter and was quickly asked to be the General Manager of the club I was working with. It was rocky at first due to me having no knowledge of how to run and operate a club. I was used to the marketing side and going home. Being a General Manager takes an a great deal of your time and that was hard to adjust to initially. I managed several clubs in Tallahassee before moving to Atlanta April 1,2020. The journey has been extremely difficult. In this industry you are going to have to sacrifice , youre going to lose any personal time that you have and most likely people you love and cherish. It is hard to maintain personal relationships or have any work/life balance so you have to decide what you want. Success in this industry will cost you a lot. One of the hardest things I have dealt with along the way is being judged for how I look and it being harder for certain demographics to take you seriously. Im black with a beard and I am covered in tattoos but I will run circles around any GM you put me up against.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
IF I had someone visiting for a week there are so many spots we would visit. I love the booty clubs so I would definitely have to stop by ONYX, Magic City, Allure and Blue Flame at some point. OF course I would take them to eat at Fin and Feathers, we have the best food in the city right now. Toast on Lenox, Fogo de Chao, Jamrock, JJ’s Chicken, Fat Matts bbq are a few of the food spots we would go to. As far as entertainment, this is Atlanta so there are a plethora of places to go, you have 4 or 5 major sports teams, festivals almost every weekend, concerts, plays etc, there is so much to do it would depend on their mood or how drunk we get lol
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out each and every single person I have worked with during the past 14 years. Each one of them has helped me become the person I am and they are all responsible for any amount of success I have obtained. Without them I would not have been able to thrive and continue to grow and elevate in this business. I love and appreciate each and every single one of you, it has been a pleasure
