We had the good fortune of connecting with Kareem Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kareem, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success I’ve had with anything I’ve touched, I would have to say it’s God! I feel like all things up to now were all part of his plan. From the individuals I’ve met, to the ideas I have, the valleys he has graced me to make it through, and my overall ability to just show up and be present in the moment!
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
People may think being a Content Creator is easy, but when you have to do everything on your own at times it can become a bit overwhelming! Being a Hairstylist/ Wig Designer is no easy task as well, from the clients, to staying on top of the latest trends, and to handling everything on your own as well! You really have to enjoy it and not just do it for the money. The most satisfying thing about it all is making individuals feel good and putting a smile on their faces!
Okay, so the thing that I’m most proud of is myself! For getting back up and trying again after being knocked down, rejected, talked about, criticized, and God knows what else. I got where I am today professionally because I take pride in everything that I do and I enjoy it! It was definitely not easy at all to get to where I am today and I’m not even where I want to be yet! The challenges I’ve faced so far are only preparing me for where I’m going. It’s hard trying to become a successful entrepreneur and trying to live because sometimes life be “Life’n”! Trust me I know I’ve been homeless twice since 2019, literally living in a car. Without praying and trusting in God I probably would have lost my mind. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that when people show you who they are the first time believe them, never hold grudges, keep pushing even on the days you don’t want to, and always trust God to do what he does. I just want the world to know that I was here, I made a difference in people’s lives, I surrendered my life to God’s will, and as long as I have breath in my body my story will always be, To Be Continued!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I honestly can’t even give an answer to that question. Lol, I don’t even know where to begin to show someone the best places to go in the city because I rarely go anywhere. I have one Mexican Restaurant that I go to every once in a while because they have really good Texas Nachos. Other than that we will have to wing that week-long trip!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost God! Then I would say the family that understands my assignment and appreciates my role in their life. All the individuals who ever spoke life into me at some point, and all my true supporters who stuck around throughout the years!
